18-m Nationals Complete -- Tom Kelley (711) New Champ! Go Tom! by
WE[_2_]
We had a great time at Ephrata this year. The organization was superb
and the weather even better. This is clearly a great soaring site
that rivals Uvalde in many ways and it is much cooler. I can't say
enough about how well run everything was there from the soaring
activities to the social...

SPOT Tracking for Groups by
Uncle Fuzzy
I know it's been done, but I don't know HOW to do it. We (JABOGers)
would like to set up a page that displays the tracking information for
several SPOT units in tracking mode. If you know how do accomplish
this, please post here!
Sorry if this has been covered, I couldn't find a 'how to' using...

IVSM 2009 Photos by
Tony Condon[_2_]
I have returned from my weekend at IVSM 2009. What a blast. I really
enjoyed flying off Harris Hill and could've stared at the beautiful
gliders and visited with the pilots for days and days. I did manage to
get a couple good soaring flights in, one hour in the ASK-13 and an hour
and 45 minutes...

iPAQ 310 won't shut down by
Paul Remde
Hi,
I have been doing a lot of playing with my iPAQ 310 and SeeYou Mobile for
PNA. Somehow the unit is now in a mode in which I can't turn it off so that
it stays off while connected to the wall charger. Every time I turn it off
it turns itself right back on. If I disconnect it from the wall...

Glider accident in France claims two by
zurchman
A number of recent fatalities seem to involve some sort of
competition. Here's another one.
This glider crash in France was reported in the Wall Street Journal
because one of the pilots was the head of a large hedge fund. He was
49 and had been flying gliders since he was 16.
The other pilot...

"There’s something new with the 2009 18 Meter National Soaring
Championships. We’re going to report on the contest, in real time, on
Twitter. As you may know, Twitter is the micro-blog site that allows...

How do I add more legroom in my ASW-15B? by
Spam
I love this glider, I don't want to sell it to buy a glider with more
legroom. But unfortunately, I am one tall son of a gun. I fly with
the rudder pedals ALL the way out, the seat back ALL the way
back......and barefoot!. I have tried taking the seatback out and
that is too uncomfortable with...

Glider insurance by
David Ecentral news
Maybe I am in error, and if so I apologize, but I cannot help but think the
good ol' insurance companies may be trying their usual rip-offs. As a renter
I am asked to have $20,000 hull insurance on an FBO G-103 so I can take the
occasional friend up into the aerospace - no problems - seems fair...

L-Nav question by
Nickname unavailable
Hi,
I flew a friend's LS-6 the other day that is equipped with an L-Nav.
After being towed through some great thermals I released and noticed
that the L-Nav was pegged at +10 with a matcing audio tone that would
not reset itself. I turned L-Nav off and on again and everything was
fine after that....

FAA Inspection for New Airworthiness by
PS
Looks like I'll need to obtain a new Experimental Airworthiness Cert.,
which will cause me to go through an FAA Inspection. I'll need to redo
a couple of placards, one being the airspeed limits with weight and
balance info. Can I create on the computer, print to size, laminate
and double stick tape...

Arcus - first impressions by
Andreas Maurer
Yesterday we had a visit from Schempp Hirth, having the brand-new
Arcus prototype in their luggage.
A couple of pilots from my club had the occasion for a flight - first
impressions were enthusiastic to say the least.
Assembly is similar to the Duo Discus. The wings are significantly
lighter than...

XCSkies CAPE by
Spam
Question for any weather guru's out the
I have had a wonderful season so far this year. I've had many 4-5
hour flights cross country. I'm trying to figure out the XCSkies
weather features. The CAPE has shown 0-300 almost everytime I've gone
soaring so far this year. It's never above 0-300...
