Own a piece of soaring history by
[email protected]
When Ben Green imported his Libelle 301 back in the ‘60’s, he designed
what may have been one of the first clam shell trailers to be found in
the US. Certainly it was an improvement over what was at that time
available and by the standards of the time, very innovative.
At some point in the...

Oximeters with alarms, data logging, and prices less than $300 by
Eric Greenwell
I can't believe how cheap oximeters are getting. Standard fingertip
models are available for $50; fingertip and wrist units with alarms,
data logging, and software are available for less than $300.
$50 Fingertip unit oximeter (no more excuses for using oxygen without...

Hang Gliding Documentary "Big Blue Sky" by
Soaranator
It is finally done and available! I'm posting this here because I
know a lot of old hang glider pilots spend their time in sailplanes
these days. I've spent the last 5 and 1/2 years making this
documentary about the birth of the first extreme sport, hang gliding.
The running time is 78 minutes...

images archived back to 2003 or so!

Flashback by
Tuno
This weekend is the 5th anniversary of my life as a licensed glider
peelot. I've long forgotten who pointed me to RAS at that time but two
things I remember from surfing these hallowed gleans back then are
(1) John Shelton is my comedic hero. Pez D. Spencer was a spooky model
of my first year...

I have noticed that there are lots of sports that also use variometers
and I have some comments/questions.
These variometers are for Power Parachutes, Hang Gliders, Balloons,
Ultralights, Parafoils to name a few. Here are some links;

Daylight Losing Time: GPS Synchronizing VL? by
309
Well, it's time to set clocks back...and I noticed something
interesting today.
My VolksLogger's clock seems to run 15 seconds ahead of other GPS
units...and the US Atomic clock (which appears to be synchronized with
GPS time -- or vice verse -- per the readout from a Garmin GPS90).
I say the VL...

Erixx flight recorder - opinions? by
Wojciech Scigala
Is anybody already using new FR recorder named Erixx (approved by FAI in
June 2008)?
As this is completely new product, I'm trying to get some user opinions
on it, but internet doesn't help as it usually does. I've also mailed
the producer with some technical questions, but they didn't answer...

Award Miniatures Glider Kits Question by
[email protected]
Does anyone remember the 1970s balsa Award Miniatures glider desk

I'm trying to indentify / locate the original owner of the company.
Also curious how many designs there were, and if anyone has any of the
old plans.
(Know of a Minimoa, 1-23, 1-26, 2-32, and a Slingsby Skylark...

Grob 109 - Are hand controls available? by
YFCpilots
Does anyone out there know if hand controls are available for the Grob
109 Motorglider? Or if there are any motorgliders available with hand
operated rudder controls?
Any help would be much appreciated.

Pawnee fuel tank vent drip by
Mike McCarron[_2_]
Our club tows with a Pawnee and we have noticed a very slow fuel drip
coming out of the fuel tank vent. This drip happens most of but not all
of the time and it does not seem to matter whether the tank is full, half
full, or near empty. Any ideas as to what the cause might be?
Thanks
