PASCO egg in Minden by
[email protected]
Mike Mitton "captured" the PASCO egg from Truckee September 28 with a
nice flight out of Minden. He towed with SoaringNV to the west to see
if the clouds on that side of the valley would work, and after
scratching around for about an hour finally made it south far enough
to have the 100 km...

Minden NV gliding by
Mick Lee
I am looking for a glider pilot visiting Minden Nv soon who would be
willing to look over and an informal inspection of a DG400.
I am interesting in buying the glider but would like someone independant
to view it pre-purchase.

Our own BB (John Cochrane) on NPR by

I was startled awake by John's voice from the clock-radio,
discussing nuclear strikes on fox-holes and other scary
things. Meant to post immediately here, but I pulled
a pillow over my head and forgot about it...

US Rules Poll now online for all by
BB
By popular request, the US rules poll is now visible online to any and
all at
http://adamsfive.com/survey/surveys.php
No matter what you enter in name and number you'll be able to read the
poll. It will only record your opinions if you've flown in a contest
in the last 3 years.
We hope this will...

New Castle "Rookie" Report by
PMSC Member
I am neither rookie nor old hand, but my first contest at New Castle
(a challenging site for those who haven't experienced it first hand)
had me in rookie mode all over again. This is an article I wrote up
for my club.

List of Questions about restoring a glider by
[email protected]
Here's a list of questions about restoring an ASW-15B model.
How expensive is it to tint a canopy?
What about hinging it?
The old metal Ben Greene trailer sure could use some struts/hydraulic
to help open and close the lid. It's really heavy. Anything to
assist in opening it?

WinPilot 9.11 PRO and GPS-NAV by
Jarek
I currently use the WP 8.0 with a GS-NAV unit. To make it work I use
GPS-NAV 2 setting in the Hardware dropdown list (About screen).
I had a look at the most recent version of WP (9.11 PRO) and noticed that
the corresponding drop-down list no longer has GPS-NAV setting (it has:

Establishing Club Class/Too Many Nationals/Not Enough Competitors by
Tim[_2_]
In our discussions here on whether or not too add Club Class to the
list of competitions held in the U.S., the main sticking point seems
to be the effect on adding a burden to place yet another contest at
dwindling contest sites. This should be a real concern for all
classes, not just if we add...

A thought about handicapping....... by
XYZ
What happens if we handicap pilots instead of aircraft.....
Have a handicap card for each pilot airplane combination.
If I can consistantly get 50% of the possible points earned by the days
winner,
I would get a series of normalization factors (2.00) that over time would
reflect my...

Participating in Contests by
MickiMinner
I have been watching the threads about club class and the SRA pilot

much of a change in the US with participation in contests in recent
years. For everyone, Europe, USA and elsewhere....what draws, lures
or interests you in a...

Rent a Tow Vehicle by
dgrah[_2_]
I need to tow a trailer from Washington state to Central California
and trying to figure out the most cost effective and time efficient
way to do it. It is a long damn drive up and back and I am wondering
if flying commercially one way and then renting a tow vehicle for the
return would be viable....

Soaring Simulator by
Robert Allinson
I seem to remember there was a lengthy discussion here about PC soaring
simulators but I've not been able to find it again. Does anyone know
whether there was a concensus on which simulator was most realistic? I
seem to remember Condor and Silent Wings being discussed.
