German registered glider : 3000h inspection, allowed to do it ? by
Ludovic
On a German registered glider.
Has anyone been allowed by the LBA or his local Pruffer to carry out
the 3000 hours (or 6000h) inspection himself ? What was the concerned
glider ?
I'm not talking about major or important repairs (if there are any
needed), but about the inspection + replacement...

Maiden flight, N888LP LP-49 Glider by
Jim Meade
Today was the maiden flight of N888LP, the LP-49 experimental glider
built by Walt Bybee and purchased by me earlier this year.
It flew like a dream. Walt did a superb job of building it.
The first flight was a tow to 3,000 AGL on a poor lift day. It was
very well behaved on tow. After...

Twin Astir Canopy Replacement by
YFCpilots
If anyone knows where I could find either a complete frame AND plexi
canopy for the rear cockpit of a Twin Astir (not Twin II) I'd
appreciate the help. Our Canadian Freedoms Wings program for
paraplegic pilots is at a standstill as we've broken our rear canopy.
Its a frustrating position to be in...

Check your wheel bolts by
Bill Daniels
Today a Pawnee had a wheel bolt lose its nut and back out of the wheel
enough to strike the brake caliper. I know of two other ocasions where this
locked the wheel leading to a groundloop and to severe damage to the tug.
In this instance, the bolt bent about 45 degrees producing a loud ticking...

good source for Jet Stream charts? [US] by
chris
I have not found a really good source for current Jet Stream analysis
and Forecast Charts.
This is the best one I've seen so far:
http://weather.unisys.com/ngm/init/ngm_300_init.html
Anyone got a better source? In the past I've seen similar charts from
NOAA or NWS That had a white background and...

FS: Gap Tape by
TJ[_1_]
End of the season sale on gap tape
35 rolls of 1 inch wide tape for $40
postpaid in the USA. Color is white.
Again, this tape is not as good as the $5
a roll tape. However, it is good one day
use tape. And, after subtacting the cost
of shipping, you are paying less than a dollar
a roll.

Ouch by
Ian
This gem come from a Pirat Service Bulletin:
"This bulletin is introduced to avoid the possibility of disconnection
of control system elements in case of an unintended ****ting the self-
aliguing bearing out of the pish rod end ..."
Don;t you just hate when that happens?
