IPhone On gliders? by
Mitch[_2_]
Hi all,
here http://www.engadget.com/2008/02/23/palm-emulated-on-the-iphone-finally-we-can-leave-that-iiic-at-h/
they show the beta of a palm emulator on IPhone. This might lead to
interesting developments, don't you think? The beta hasn't been
released yet, but one can fairly assume that it'll...

See You Mobile by
[email protected]
I am trying to figure out why my AGL nav box is showing the wrong
altitude. On the ground it is showing -4995 feet and it has the same
error throughout the flight. Is there any way that I can adjust that,
or is it my 302 showing it wrong/reading it wrong? All the other
functions are working...

Words terms & public perception by
fredsez
Over here on this side of the pond, how should I advertise or tell my
friends (yet to meet) that I fly something like an aircraft without an
engine running?
If I say Glider, I often hear "Oh, you fly hang gliders?"
If I say I fly sailplanes, I hear "What is that?"
If I say I am going soaring, I...

Handheld radio by
Jim Meade
Looking for opinions on a portable, handheld aviation radio for ground
support operations. No special features needed beyond the basic
transciever functions, as far as I know.
If there is a handheld that would be suitable for use in the glider
using an established external antenna, please comment...

CA taxes... again by
[email protected]
Sorry to beat your brains, but I'm trying to wrap my own around all of
this. I've read many posts on the subject so far and am still
confused.
I'm trying to determine the costs with moving my ship to CA and the
related taxes. I've already been hit by the tax man in my current
state, will have to...

Inter-thermal cruise speeds? by
Frank[_1_]
I'm curious what others are using for inter-thermal cruise speeds for
modern 15m (and 18m I guess) gliders like the Ventus 2bx, Ventus 2cx,
ASW-27, ASG-29, Diana 2, etc (add models as necessary).
Here in the U.S. we have been moving toward cruise speeds much lower
than would normally be dictated...

SSA convention report by
Bill Daniels
One of the little things that seems missing in other reports was the buzz
created by the Condor Competition Flight Simulator. There were several
booths set up with it in use and one session about using it in flight
instruction.
People are wild about this thing.

"Outlandings" discussion by
[email protected]
So, what do you call an outlanding? If you land at an established
airport/airfield is this an "Outlanding"? Or is it an uncompleted
flight into an airport. I have read a lot of club SOP's that recommend
a "planned" outlanding into an airport as training for a real
outlanding! Not the same thing. Is...

This guide, originally published in Soaring in 2002, and updated in
2004, is now expanded another 10 pages to include information on Mode

the Zaon MRX, and the "glider TCAS" (FLARM).

Hello,
Does anyone know if NJ applies a sales tax on used gliders that are
purchased out of state. I know there is a sales tax at motor vehicles
when the trailer is registered.
Thanks

Equation question from Reichmann X-C Soaring by
Tim Taylor
I am working with a fourth printing (1988) and the equation presented
for Optimum Average Cruise Speed does not make sense. It is equation
VI in the book, but it gives a very slow speed to fly compared to the
graphical approach of just finding the tangent to the line.
Plugging in zero for the...
