Open Cockpit Regatta - New Years Day 2007 by
JS
The ninth annual "Open Cockpit Regatta" provided much fun today. Of
the 37 glider tows (thanks, Ken) in Tehachapi California, 15 of them
were open cockpit.
I left the Schleicher 26 at home and instead flew a Schweizer 26 with
sport canopy. Ian Cant allowed several of us to fly his newly...

2-Batteries by
[email protected]
By all means a second battery should be installed in our electrically
driven modern sailplanes. After many years of quickly flipping my
3-position battery switch, and trying not to have my logger to
momentarily dropout, I have concluded that is best to use 2 single-pole
battery switches. That way...

just after landing to let me know he have made a 500 Km flight at 306 km/h
on average in a Nimbus 4DM... this could be the first above 300 km/h and...

Panera cream cheese by
[email protected]
All right, all you glider pilots who were wondering about the use of a
sailplane picture on the packaging of Panera's cream cheese. Direct
from the Marketing Director of the company: the sailplane represents
the lightness of the product. No specific model was used.
Just in case you were wondering:...

PDA/PC connection for NMEA feed by
[email protected]
Okay, I know some folks have solved this problem before, but I haven't
been able to find the details in any old postings...
I have a PC running XP Pro with no 9-pin serial ports, just USB (though
the System panel does show a COM1). I have my PDA (an IPAQ 4700) in its
cradle and connected via USB,...

Apologies for email problems by
[email protected]
I hate to have to use RAS for this, but I've been having email issues
with my (former) ISP. If any of you have tried to email me from my
website www.mmfabrication.com in the past few weeks, I probably didn't
get it. Sorry about that. It seems to be working now, but I also have
an alternate email...

Flight Computer: Borgelt B500 or LX1600? by
Ian
Hi All
Our trusty Zander SR800 is rather sick. So if we can't get it fixed I
would like to know what we might be looking at for a replacement.
The Zander has a very pleasant electronic/audio vario with digital
averager, speed to fly and final glide calculator. It was top notch in its
day - which...

1:33 card model of LS-8 by
Marian Aldenhövel
Hi,
I am proud to present my design for a LS-8 card model in 1:33 scale. While
not yielding a model as perfect and detailled as the recent plastic Revell
kit a card model has other merits.
The particular aircraft that is the subject of my kit has qualified for the
5th Junior World Gliding...

Sinha Deturbulators: Flight Test Evaluation by
OxAero
After three years of working to configure Sumon Sinha's deturbulator
tapes for my Standard Cirrus, we finally brought it to Caddo Mills for
one of those Johnson flight test evaluations. He and Jeff Baird flew
it six times with those shiny silver strips on the wings, then three
times without. What...

Glider specific transponder codes by
Bob Caldwell
Hi Pilots,
=20
If any Minden area pilots are familiar with the procedures followed to
secure your glider specific XPDR code please contact me. I would like
to see a similar specific code for the Front Range of the Rockies. I
haven't a clue where to start the process.
