Jantar 48-2 vs Pik20d by
Jeff Runciman
Hi guys,
It has been a while since I have posted here. I have
finally narrowed my search to 2 gliders. I am aware
of the following on each glider:
Jantar - Visibility during tow, and tight cockpit (I
am 5'10' 148 lbs so I fit ok).
Pik 20D - Thick wing mold, parts support, and flaps.

Transponder intall in an LS-4 by
Dan Peters
My partner and I are thinking about installing a transponder
in our LS-4. If anyone has done this in an LS-4, can
you send either a textual description or pictures of
the antenna installation?
We cannot use our tail battery (because of a repair),
and I wonder if we can put the antenna in that...

lead tail ballast by
[email protected]
Over the years ,my PIK20D ,not to mention my self ,has gained some
weight.
The cg with me aboard is now located forward of the mid range although
still
within limits.
I would like to add about 6 pounds of lead to the tail to shift the cg
to the rear
half of the allowable range. Anyone know the...

Safety Corner-Nov/issue by
snoop
I'd like to make a comment about this months Safety Corner. It's been
over twenty years since I flew the HS125, but I do know that, "With the
nose up", "passing through 350 knots", you would be going UP like a
homesick angel, not "losing altitude", as the author guesses. Besides I
believe that vmo...

New vs. Used by
[email protected]
I just received an email with the monthly news from DG. The 2
paragraphs that struck me most is the explanation of the cost of a
new glider and cost of replacement parts. The high cost of a new
sailplanes and the delays in production was blamed on the war between
Airbus and Boeing. OK, lets say...

Airbus 380 by
Ed Gaddy
I gave rides and instruction in a 2-32. I was the lightest
ride pilot (180lb), so when a heavy couple was going
up I had the honor of being the pilot. Most rides were
the mile high ride. Soon after release, I would slow
it up to just above stall speed. With a heavy load
it would start buffeting at...

license woes by
gen
Hi,
I wonder if I can borrow your wisdom here. I tried to convert a foreign
private pilot license to a US one, and hit a wall.
On 9/5, I applied for a conversion of Japanese glider license to a
US one at San Jose FSDO. On the application form, I disclosed that
I had a US ASEL license, and even...

Seat Back Wanted for Ventus B by
[email protected]
I recently bought a Ventus C (B body), which came without a seat back.
Since I am shorter than the previous owners, I need to add a seat back,
but Schempp Hirth wants $736.00 (plus shipping) for a replacement!
Does anyone have/know of a "B" seat back, perhaps from a wrecked
glider? I'm definitely...
