soaring with Osama by

Here's a quote from Slate Magazine (http://www.slate.com/id/2147499/):
Syria had hundreds of files on al-Qaida, including dossiers on those
who had participated-or wanted to participate-in the 9/11 attacks.
Syrian spies had penetrated al-Qaida cells throughout the Middle East,
and Syrian President...

UK medical requirements... by
Marc Ramsey
Hi Peter,
Thanks for the message. Have you flown there in the past 3 years?
Apparently the rules have changed. Is Lasham an enjoyable place to fly,
or is it just too busy?
Regards,
Marc

Firewalls blocking OLC uploads? by
Doug Haluza
We got a report from an OLC user who was having trouble uploading files
to OLC. He traces the problem to the AOL firewall on his system. Here
is his report:
"I found it, it is because of a AOL firewall that comes on blocking the
upload to the OLC. AOL doesn't tell me it is doing it, and I had...

Birth Certificate/ Passport by
Slick
I've tried my best to find out if this is a club policy or a FAR thing. Is
it a reg that an instructor must see the student pilot's birth certificate
or passport in order to give instruction? If someone comes here from
overseas, am I allowed to instruct them?

Ron Gleason
I am new to the sailplane community in the Salt Lake City area. I hope
fly more sites around NV and the west.
Hill Air Force in South Ogden UT has applied for a new MOA, White Elk
MOA, that would run north of Ely NV to south of Wells NV covering the
area over highway 93 in White Pine County. ...

Microbursts by
[email protected]
Remarkably valuable material is available these days on wikipedia.
But I've got problems with this
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microburst
text.
Sailplaners will have a good understanding of natural air flow.
This text seems to suggest that you can take an unenclosed 'parcel'
of air, and...

pilots. Along those lines, I'm a big collector of soaring and aviation
related books. I have been having a lot fun adding these books to my online
store. Reading soaring books gets me through the long winter months...

Currency requirements for commercial glider pilot by
Doug LS4
Recent discussions at my small club have centered around the cuurency
requirements for commercial glider pilots. My understanding is that a
pilot may not carry passengers unless they have had three take offs and
landings within the previous ninety days in an aircraft of the same

Wanted: VHF radio (77mm x 56mm x 220mm) by
Martin
Hi,
I am looking for a replacement for my board radio. Preferrably
something like the ATR 720c, but the ATR720a is considered also. The
size of the radio is important: I don't feel like redoing my instrument
panel.

Region 12 S. Warner Springs # 711 reporting by
[email protected]
Well folks, I am out here in Warner Springs, enjoying
Region 12 South. Today, as you can see on the SSA website, some folks
put down some speeds. We even had the towpilots go up in a Grob twin,
and end up with 1143 guest points. Ya, they had the best times of their
life.
When I came...
