US Imported Glider - Port of Baltimore, MD USA by
Tim Hanke
Help needed! We have imported a used sailplane with a Komet Trailer to
the port of Baltimore in the United States and have had nothing but
problems with the US DOT trailer inspector. The Trailer is a 2001 Komet
trailer. The US DOT employee at Baltimore, Dick Merit, has been totally
unreasonable,...

Total cross country distance flown by
Bill Daniels
The OLC gives the total scored distance flown in the US for the 2005 season
as 1,068,218.12 km (3044 flights). What do you suppose the actual total
distance flown for all flights was in the world? I couldn't find that
number on the OLC web site. Whatever it is, it's sure to be a...

upgrade by
James Hamilton
I have an LX5000 and had the version 11.0 upgrade done
to it in April of 2004, including the hardware upgrade
of replacing the display in the main unit. The new
screen is a higher resolution than the original and,
in my opinion, is easier to read.
The V11.0 software turns the LX5000 into a LX7000...

spinning K13s non-aerobatic by
Mark Fisher
What is the view (especially of instructors and inspectors)
on spinning K13s within the non-aerobatic range of
the placard?
seems to be a matter of some disagreement. It depends
I suppose on whether spinning is considered aerobatic.
any views?
thanks

upgrade by
[email protected]
Hi,
I own a LX 5000 version 6.13. I am thinking of upgrading to latest
version 11.00. I find it expensive at nearly 900 euro. I would like
comment from owner who did the upgrade. Is it worthwhile or just a
fashion of having the latest.
Regards,
S6

XCOM radio by
jphoenix
Anybody have comments positive or negative regarding the XCOM radio?
I'm trying to decide on a replacement for the Filser I pulled and I
like the Becker and Dittel, but the features of the XCOM are very
interesting, monitor two channels, receive 108 to 118 range
frequencies, etc.
Do they sound as...

Old Cambridge Vario Wiring by
Stewart Hamey
Hi,
At the local club there is a number of older Electronic
Cambridge Varios hanging round.
Some are supposed to be working but they have been
pulled out and the wiring harness lost.
They have a small multipin blue socket on the back,
and a plain face with no switches or knobs.
The model numbers...

Memorable Outlandings by

1967, during the Canadian Nationals, I crossed the border and landed my
Austria on the Strategic Air Command base at Plattsburg, NY – touched
down on a taxiway, rolled under the wing and engines of a B52 as I
turned down the ramp. Stopped between facing rows of B52s and K135
tankers. Had time to...
