SoCalif Pilot Died 7/3/05 - Services Set by
CindyASK
Friends:
This has been a torturous week for us.
Mark Navarre went soaring with several friends on Sunday, July 3, and
discontinued his position reporting shortly after 3 pm. It was a
normal, nice summer afternoon on the Sierras,
working altitudes of 14 ~ 15,000 msl were possible. The other...

Alu corrosion protection by
Udo Rumpf
I am refurbishing an Schreder trailer.
The under side has white corrosion markings all over.
I would like to know if I can apply an oil spray of sorts
that would "stabilize" the oxidization and help protecting
the under side over time with repeated application if necessary.
If that would work what...

Soaring Story on Radio by
Stuart Grant
In case you missed the excellent 12-minute long story on soaring at
Sugarbush Vermont that aired on public radio last weekend.
Here is a link: http://www.onlyagame.org/
It was produced by WBUR Boston.
It requires Realplayer for streaming audio. If it doesn't work click on

"Based Aircraft Fee"? by
Jim Kellett
A Club in SSA Region IV, operating at a public airport, is facing the
imposition of a "Based Aircraft Fee" in addition to hangar rental.
Is anyone aware of any public airport, one at which gliders operate or not,
that charges a fee, in addition to tiedown or hangar fee, for "basing" the
aircraft...

When to best train glider and power? by
private
Many people suggest a large benefit for student power pilots to fly some
dual in a glider and similarly many parts of successful glider piloting can
be more cost effectively learned in a power plane. As an example, it is
cheaper to do multiple landings in a power plane when learning to land.
Do...

1000k comp task by
Mel Dawson
It must be the the first 'real' completed 1000k task
in thermal only. Well done to the pilots but very well
done to the organisation, fantastic. I know of a one
well known international task setter who probebly would
have set a 4 hour assigned area task on that day !!

Fund Raising by
[email protected]
Money is a constant problem for any club. We try keep the costs of
flying to a bare minimum and thus are always on the lookout for novel
ways to raise funds for the club. On Fathers Day, we had an open day
aimed at non-members and had over 60 flights. This was coupled to
breakfast and lunch, which...
