Experience with Lithium Iron Phosphate Glider batteries? by
SF
During the winter of 2009 I was bored, and aggravated with the sealed lead acid batteries that I was using in my sailplane. They didn't hold the voltage above 12v for very long, they needed replacement every few years, and I had one die 5 miles away from the airport at the end of a 300K badge...

Buying a glider, advice on type and prices by
John[_37_]
Returned to gliding after many years and out of touch with types and prices.
Have narrowed it down to one of these types but nothing set in concrete.
ASW20, ASW27, ASW28, Discus, Discus 2 or Ventus.
Was originally looking to buy a lower cost glider but with interest rates being so poor, I am...

Re record in a Perkoz, 1870 m.
As I read the altimeter, they reached 2500m; however maybe
the airfield is 630 m ASL.

Good sailplanes for tall pilots? by
[email protected]
I am 6'4" tall. I weigh about 200-210lbs clothed. My height is fairly evenly distributed between legs and torso. My arms are rather long, though.
Please help me start developing a shopping list for a decent glider that I can enjoy owning and flying without cramps or impeded control movements. This...

AOPA PILOT "In Praise of Soaring" by
Charlie Papa[_2_]
The current issue of AOPA PILOT features an article I wrote about flying at Omarama New Zealand titled IN PRAISE OF SOARING. I think it can be accessed by non-AOPA members at https://www.aopa.org/news-and-media/all-news/2016/december/pilot/in-praise-of-soaring .
I wrote it for an audience of...

Flatbed truck transport of glider in trailer? by
[email protected]
I am trying to move a glider and cobra trailer from CA to GA. The obvious choice of having it towed is my first plan.
I have been offered to have it transported on the back of a flatbed trailer behind a truck instead.
Just because it is not the normal way to move a glider & trailer I wonder if...

All,
Just a bump for this important request. I now have 4 foreign pilots seriously looking for an 18m glider to rent or trade for use in their home countries.
Please consider helping our soaring friends overseas get a chance to come join us at SGP USA. They are all willing to rent or trade. ...
