First solos! by
Roger Worden
I had my first solos today - a great experience! After several pattern tows
and a rope break practice, I had an 800' pattern solo and a 2000' tow under
a very low ceiling - cold front moving in. Had to dodge a few clouds right
after release. Very fun! I'm with Orange County Soaring Assn., flying...

Puch spin in by
Mike Borgelt
This morning I learned that another Puchacz has spun in in the UK
killing the student and instructor while they were apparently doing
intentional spins and recoveries.
Any UK pilots know more about this?
Does this make it 15 or 16 fatal spin ins in this type?

Glider Cross-country signoff & FARs by
Jamey Jacobs
In discussions with other US glider pilots recently, and based on a
quick search of the FARs, I believe that US pilots with PPL-Glider
rating do not need any endorsements or sign-off to go cross country.
If anyone knows differently, let me know.
Before there's lots of advice to get training, fly...

Gliding in Myanmar by
Andy Davey
Just seen a mention on a website about gliding in Myanmar(formerly
Burma) at a place called Taungbbi.
Anyone got any more info? I'm currently working in
myanmar for 3 months, and it'd be great to get it in
my logbook!
Regards,
Andy

Mid-Air at Turf, Acro boxes etc by
Rick Brown
Background: I have flown at and for Turf Soaring School
for 32 of their 36 years. I was present the day of
the mid-air. I heard the collision, looked up and saw
the aftermath. I went to the scene in case first aid
could be of help. I 'ran interference' for Roy Coulliette
with the press as he had...

Pegasus comparisons sought by
Ted Wagner
As I start to collect notes on what kind of glider I'm going to purchase later this year, and knowing I likely won't be able to test drive the models I'm most interested in, I'd like to get some comparisons to what I do have access to.
Last weekend I started flying a Pegasus 101A, and it looks...

Well, that was certainly an informative and oft entertaining set of replies
