Saw This On Google Earth by
John[_1_]
Have a look at 29°57'59.70"N, 81°20'37.81"W.
This is the Northrop-Grumman facility at the St Augustine, Florida
airport. Along the south-east (lower-right) side of the building,
there are what appear to be fighter or trainer jet aircraft. At
first, based on the wing shape, I thought these were...

Is it an airplane? by
John[_1_]
Okay folks,
Have a look at 38°32'4.78"N and 89°50'14.30"W on Google Maps, just
above the two light aircraft. There is what may be a slab sided
blotchy green thing with what appear to be swept wings. Beneath each
"wing" appears to be a drop tank midway between the root and tip. By
the way, the...

Carrier at North Island by
John[_20_]
There is an aircraft carrier docked at North Island (San Diego) aft of
the George Washington which appears to have its island, antennas and
other structures wrapped in a white material. What carrier is it and
is it being mothballed? Or is the wrapper being used to trap paint
being stripped in...

USAF Phantoms on deck? by
John[_9_]
Did USAF Phantoms ever land and take off from a carrier deck? I
believe that at least the USAF F4-C was at least initially was nearly
identical to the Navy F4-B. Was the F4-D and F4-E capable of taking
off and landing from a carrier deck? Was it ever done?
If the F4-D/E was not capable of...

4 x Invincible class or 1 x Nimitz class by
jokoch
I just have a thought of the above subject. Say you're the planner
for an RN size navy, which one would you prefer, 4 x small CVBG or 1 x
BIG CVBG? Say it's all for offensive purpose and not for homeland
defence.
I think it equates well in terms of tonnage and man power, but how
about power...

Biggest and smallest aviators by
José Herculano
I remember reading that one of VF-17s Corsair pilots was so small he had to
"get creative" to be able to use enough rudder on take off. Sometimes you
see a picture in which it looks like there is a contortionist gorilla in the
cockpit.
I know there are some size guideliness, and also know that...
