antenna dilemma by
Brad[_2_]
My buddies tell me my handheld is too painfull to listen to anymore. I
would put in a panel mount, but since I have a mostly carbon aircraft,
where should I put the antenna? Too late to install it in the rudder,
or is there a solution that would allow me to install one in the
rudder??
I think the...

HP-24/Tetra-15 Museum of Flight in March by
Brad[_2_]
I will be displaying my Tetra-15 at the Seattle Museum of Flight March
17 and 18.
The Tetra-15 is the first article HP-24 that we made in Bob's and my
shop over the last several years. I won't be able to take it to the
SSA convention in Reno this year, but it will be on display in Seattle
on the...

AH and minimum equip list by
Brad[_2_]
My sailplane lists an Artificial Horizon as part of the minimum
equipment list, I made it that way for safety. Am I now prevented from
flying in competition?

BFR for ALL rated aircraft......wtf by
Brad[_2_]
There is an instructor in our club that's claiming the FAA would
"like" pilots to get BFR's in all aircraft they are rated to fly. It
makes sense to me that if a guy flies a twin turbine, getting a BFR
in a Blanik, and then jumping in a King Air is probably not a good
idea.
What about a pilot who...

Now some good news by
Brad[_2_]
Over the Memorial Day weekend the Seattle Glider Council hosted the
Dust-Up in Ephrata. This years Dust-Up was run again by Noel Wade and
Kevin Finke. The objective this year was a badge and XC encampment.
Several clubs in R8 attended as well as the normal folks that fly out
of Ephrata. I had not...

US saved from anhilation by

might be just a rumor, but I just read that a SC sailplane pilot was
arrested for flying to close to a nuclear reactor by
DHS..................seems they were rather upset and stripped his
sailplane of all instrumentation................no wonder I slept so
well last night, just think what might...

looking for used Clamshell trailer by
Brad[_2_]
I had a chance to tow a Cobra trailer the other day from Ephrata to
Arlington, about 150 miles or so and now am very desirous of having
one for my HP-24. If anyone knows of a used Cobra or Komet out there
please let me know. I have cash!
thanks,
Brad

compaq 3850 weirdness by
Brad[_2_]
Today when I went flying, my Ipaq had a wonderfully blueish white
screen...................to my horror, when I landed it had somehow
turned to a reddish-pink screen.
Can't seem to find any menu items that might help me restore to the
"default" background color and the manual does not seem to...

LS-1F question by
Brad[_2_]
I was looking at some pictures of an LS-1F..........does the fuselage
have a wing fairing? from the pix it appears the wings plug right in
to the side of the fuselage like an LS-3.
Does this model have auto-hookups? looks like maybe the elevator does.
Also, is the F model...

Wendezeiger needle/ball repair by
Brad[_2_]
I have a Wendezeiger needle/ball gyro that does not work anymore. I am
wondering if there might be a repair station that still works on these
instruments. It is quite old, it came out of my Austria I bought
several years ago.
Thanks,
Brad

HP-24 update by

Now, at the complete opposite end of the fabrication spectrum we have
a new update on the HP-24 project at:

No fancy autoclaves or pre-pregs here folks,
nope.......................we use icky sticky 2-part epoxy resins and
hoghair bristle brushes! Getting tricky for us is when...

waxing newly painted sailplane by
Brad[_2_]
I decided to paint my HP-24 myself. Overall it turned out nice and
saved me a whole bunch of money, while not "perfect" it will do just
fine. For a guy with a CostCo hoop house and a Harbor Freight
conversion gun I'm pleased!
My question is: how long should I wait to apply protective wax to...
