ELT's by
Brad
My guess is that the fatalities we saw last season are the reason ELT's
are being considered. Making contest pilots use them is the logical
first step, very clever.
I sat in the local airport restaurant for over 2 hours coordiating with
the local Police and SAR folks last spring, we were pretty...

Gary Mitchell is a ****in' Freak!!!! by
Brad
Hey Gary,
now that's the way to extend your flight time.....and be comfortable!
Five hours was my limit in my old Sensor 510 with a Bennet pod (I am
dating myself here...:o) Of course I did not drink anything either.
This was back in the days of B.C. (Before Camelbacks)

LS-1C canopy mod by
Brad
A friend has an LS-1C that we are planning on completly restoring. One
of the planned changes is to add a 1 piece canopy. Anyone out there
ever done this?
Also, we are looking for front hinge canopy parts and latching hardware
from wrecked gliders that we can use for the project.
Thanks,
Brad

Glider Forums by
BQ
Are there any active glider/sailplane forums?
I'm familiar with several of the generic pilot forums (Pilots of America, AOPA, Purple Board, etc.), but is there anywhere to go in addition to this newsgroup for glider talk?

Moving to Bend, OR by
BQ
I took my first glider flight a couple of months ago at Low Country Soaring in Ridgeland, SC. (Cool group of guys there!) The flight was really cool.. As much as I wanted to, I couldn't really justify making the investment in a membership because I'll be moving in about a month. I'm headed up...

Oxygen training by
[email protected]
I took the USAF training program at Beal many years ago. Does the Air Force still offer the program or has it gone the way of all good things in budget cuts? I know the FAA offers it in Oklahoma city. I am taking an Instrument ground school and the others wanted to know if it was still...

Parowan Hotels by
BPattonsoa
Looks like the Sports next year is going to be sold out. So for those of us
who haven't been, how about some rating on the Hotels in the area. Karl put up
a list on the website, but some of those looked "interesting".

Can't vote in Contest Committe by
BPattonsoa
Try as I will to influence the contest rules to more rational and simpler
rules, I can not get in to vote on the next committee members. I am ranked
(183) and a member of SSA since 69. E-mailed the administrator of the "survey"
twice, no response.
Anyone else try and manage to get in?

FAA Commercial Glider License Questions by

Does anyone know if an FAA Commercial Glider License is an ICAO
recognized license?
If so does anyone know where this is written down. I have searched the
ICAO website but cannot find a list of recognized licenses from each
country.
On another note if I wanted to do an FAA CPL Glider, coming from...

For the DPEs: added vs. initial rating written exams by
Borislav Deianov
I'm working on my CFI certificate. I'm aiming to get both the
CFI-Airplane and CFI-Glider and since the book work is pretty much the
same, I'm working on them in parallel. I haven't decided yet which
checkride to take first and would like to keep my options open.
Here is the problem: I'd like to...
