Max flaps IAS for ASG-32Mi by jp
I have read, and re-read, the POH for the ASG-32Mi and am uncertain of the recommended and max IAS for the various flap settings. On p. 118 there is a diagram of what I suppose are the recommended, effective flap IAS ranges. On the ASI are marked the max IAS for flapa 5,6 and for flaps L. These...

More specifically by Robert[_7_]
I have recently had spinal surgery so my plans were changed. I was beginning a ULF-1 but realized that I won't be carrying that on my back.... so I had awhile ago ordered the 1929 primary glider... so looks like that's where I'm headed at this point.

Butterfly vario wind indication by Ian Wright
The wind direction/speed info on our butterfly vario is only working intermittently. When no direction and value is given it just shows WIND N/A. Sometimes it shows STILL AIR. All other functions seem to work just fine. Any ideas much appreciated?

Reverse waterfalls - visualization of high winds over cliffs by [email protected][_2_]
Today on BBC and on YouTube there is a film clip showing high winds carrying water from falls up and over an abrupt cliff face. The clip is “reverse waterfall” and is outside of Sidney at the Royal National Park. With the water blowing aloft and lifted by the wind you can easily visualize the...

Ridge Season by Linwood Stevenson
Kevin Anderson flew his DG400 out of Knoxville, TN today to start the 2018 ridge season in this area. He made a nice 500km+ flight from Knoxville to Bluefield, WV and return. Appears to be the only US flight on OLC today, but is #1 on the Worldwide OLC! Congrats to Kevin on a great...

US Standard Class Nationals by Retting
Good lord, who invented this torturous sport. The only fun part was the line finish. So, here we go. A 300 mile assigned task that took us across Bush Ranch twice. The first leg 100 miles SW into a quarter headwind that took the mortal pilots a couple of hours followed by a right turn for a 60...

Solid Red LED after Flarm update to 6.80 by [email protected]
I just updated my PowerFlarm to v6.80 and after the update I'm now getting a solid "red" LED rather than the usual "Green". PowerFlarm feeds Butterfly display and LXNav S80/Oudie 2. All show reception of GPS signal from Flarm and Flarm targets are displayed on all. I've looked at the .TXT file...

Truck vs Car as a tow vehicle by kenward1000
My 98 GMC Suburban SLT (Special Luxury Touring) equipped with the factory tow package has been a solid tow vehicle, even when towing my LAK12 trailer. Lot's of room for tools and parts, can be slept in if needed. SLTs are known affectionately as SLuTs, because they will tow anything.

Blanik - LiPo/LiFe Refit by [email protected]
Was chatting with an FAA engineer about an unrelated matter and the subject of JAR specs for sailplanes came up. I mentioned almost in passing that it sure seemed like if any new ground was plowed on batteries it would be OSTIV and EASA that paved it. He replied that if a manufacturer actually...

Pawnee by Charles Longley
I am not sure who is the SGC ship captain on the Pawnee. I flew it the other day to help out Duane. Is that a FLARM on top of the instrument panel? If so how does it work? Scott was asking me about a good source for Pawnee parts. My first choice is Univair then Johnston Aircraft in California.

First Glider Flight by Dan Marotta
I was in Robert Mudd's shop yesterday and he had a Grob 103, N928BG. He told me that it came from Hawaii. I just looked in my log book and found that it was the first glider I ever flew! My brother took me to Dillingham Field and introduced me to Elmer and, after talking a while, he gave me...
