Does anyone have experience with the installation of an ACK TECHNOLOGIES EO-1 ELT in an HpH 304C? Doesn't appear to be room behind spars because of O2 and battery compartment hatch.. Any suggestions?

Commercial operators at Minden? by Thatcher Smith
I'll have a few days spring free on a business trip and would like to do some soaring at Minden. Can anyone recommend a commercial operator there? I'd like to do some dual in a Duo or such and perhaps get released to go solo if time permits.

302 wind calculation by 5Z
The best way to get a good wind calculation while flying "straight", such as on a final glide, descending through wind gradients and shears, I do the following per conversation with Dave Ellis a few years ago: 1. Turn 45 degrees off course and fly straight for 10-15 seconds. 2. Turn 90 degrees in...

50 years of space (Not related to soaring) by Bill Daniels
I remember vividly a cold dark night in the New Mexico desert. It was 1957 and the Russians had just launched Sputnik. The USAF needed help obtaining orbital data for the worlds first satellite. I found myself, a 16 year old high school science club member, at a theodolite staring at the star...

ASW 28 trim lever interference by Andy Durbin
The US Schleicher dealer warned me of a problem with the stick mounted trim lever. If the trim is full forward the instument console will hit the trim lever when the canopy is closed. I heeded the warning and avoided breaking it for over 2 years. My luck ran out last week when, as I rushed to...

The adjustment knob on the lower left of my 302 came loose today. It was still attached to the metal rod that goes into the instrument and it appears that a set-screw came loose from the far end of the rod. Has anyone had this same failure? Does you know if I can easily repair this or does it...
