PowerFlarm “Own Transponder Detection" Rate by
John Carlyle
I’ve been trying to get the rate of "own transponder detection" by my PowerFlarm Core as low as possible. Nothing I’ve done has improved it beyond roughly every 10 minutes, on average. Sometimes it’s much worse, showing up almost constantly. Turning off PCAS isn’t really an option for me,...

Lightning Strikes Gliders by
GM
Hello all in US-gliderland,
Some time ago, there was an interesting article in Soaring about a
glider being struck by a lightning. I seem to remember a photos of
scourched sneakers, a blown out canopy and other damage. Can anybody
tell me which issue of Soaring this was or if this article is...

Free TE probes by
[email protected]
It looks like I'll finish this batch a bit ahead of schedule. If I can finish making and adding the shank fittings this weekend I will start mailing them out Monday 28 November.
It also looks like I might have one left over--when I make parts like this I always kit out one or two extra assemblies...

Flying in red and green air by
Limus
I found out today that Popular Science put all of their issues going
many years back into Google Books, available for free. I was just
browsing Jul 1948 issue when I found this article there that talks
about the soaring in 1948 and Robinson "Rate of climb" instrument. Man
we have it easy these...

Paragliding task score software by
[email protected]
Hi,
I'd like to write a small programm (online) to evaluate our paragliding competitions. We usually set a couple of turnpoints with a radius of 400 meters and the aim is to pass all these one by one and fly to the target cylinder, the finish. Just to get an idea how it looks like, I made a small...

Movses Babayan
Time to replace the safety tapes - mylars are still in good shape and are well attached.
Zigzag turbulators also have to be replaced.
Could somebody elaborate the procedure? Which adhesive remover, etc?
Thanks,

Gliding Club Experiences by
Patrick
Hello Gliders,
I wanted to make this post to see other pilots experiences at their local gliding clubs. My experience at my local gliding club is so-so, speaking as a young soon to be solo pilot, because of organisational management.
My friend and I have been quite frustrated due to extreme...

Grob102 elevator balance mods by
OscarCVox
Hi
The elevator balance mandatory mods weigh about 2kg. Thus you would need about
10kg in the nose to balance it. Now my understanding is that if you put weights
on the ends of a long fuselage and spin it there is a tendancy for it to end up
in a flat spin? please correct me if I have this...

Track2Thermic by
brianDG303[_2_]
In an earlier post there was mention of Track2Thermic which sounded
interesting, but after wasting a couple of hours there is clearly some
trick I don't know. I can convert the igc file to a wpt file and after
that it's all downhill; GPSbabel will convert to a .cup file for SYM
but displaces the...

Grob wing retainer bearings by
Tim
The aft wing locks on my Grob G102 are just about at their limits and it
looks like I will be installing oversize bearings to correct this. Does
anyone have experience doing this and if so, how difficult of a job is it?
