Re Eppler airfoils by
Ronald E Baker
There is a book of Eppler airfoils. Sorry I can't recall the name, but it
might be worth trying your local library. I traced it through my local
library (Redcliffe, Queensland, Australia) who got it in for me from our
state library (Brisbane). Keep looking as it's a great book, full of
coordinates...

NMAC/Proximity Anecdotes? by
Jim Kellett
For inclusion as examples in various local safety seminars, I've started
collecting credible anecdotal reports of NMACs (loosely defined) between
gliders and other aircraft. I'm particularly interested in incidents or
near-incidents with airliners or other "heavies". I have four such
anecdotes...

Newbie Intro/question - Untitled1.jpg (0/4) by
Dan
Hi All,
Took my first flight in a glider last week and had a blast. I want to
do it again and learn more about soaring. I'm a quadraplegic but the
organization "Freedoms Wings" in PA, USA has specially equipped
gliders. I've attached a pic (hope it makes it) and was wondering if
someone can tell me...

Tyvek material for wing covers by
Eric Greenwell
A friend of mine has made some wing covers out of Tyvek, but hasn't
used them very long. Has anyone else made wing covers using Tyvek and
used them long enough to know how well they work and hold up?
It appears to be a satisfactory material (such as type 1460), and less
than $200US would be enough...

Decal by
Dennis Brown
Anybody know of a color decal of the diamond badge? Say about 3" dia.
Or even a good resolution color picture that one could make a decal from.

Discus Winglets by
Kevin Neave
Hi,
The winglets on my Discus, as supplied by SH when the
glider was new, don't have turbulator tape.
I believe the original Masak winglets did use ziz-zag
tape to good effect.
Anyone out there know whether it's worth fitting to
SH winglets & if so do you have an accurate position?

Thank you SSA by
Mark Navarre
For placing an announcement and hyperlink on the SSA website for the pilot
opinion poll. I did not receive notice in the mail (maybe others, too?) could
it be the Postal Service is short on dough after buying Lance Armstrong a new
bike?

Cal(E)fornia has a new Gov(E)nator by
JJ Sinclair
Arnold has sworn to repeal the tripling of our car tax, so we will still be
able to drive to the gliderport. So there, It's about soaring! No hate mail,
please. I hear N(E)vade is working on a new Governator also.

Volkslogger wiring by
POP_Server=pop.clara.net
Does anyone have the pin out for the older style Volkslogger plug that used
the 5 pin screw on plug assembly.
The manual only refers to a colour code factory lead.
Many thanks

Alternative to 500-foot/1-mile rule by
Andy Blackburn
So here's a different idea:
What if, in instances where we are using a 1 mile cylinder
for the finish, instead of putting in a hard deck of
500', we make it so the scoring program can calculate
TOTAL ENERGY for each glider at the one mile point
(this should be relatively easy to do). The idea...

endorsements for private pilot glider rating by
Joel Taylor
Ok folks.
Gotta a simple question. Do I need a specific endorsement for FAR
61.31 (j) (ii) to do aerotow? My CFI-G says nope, my solo endorsement
was for aero-tow and I dont' need a seperate endorsment. (Although I
don't find the word aero-tow written in my log book at all). I am
going for...

Cambridge Aero: Repair Situation Update by
Chip Bearden
Just wanted to report that Cambridge is still in the repair business
with good results.
Two weeks before the New Castle (USA) regionals, my CAI Model 20
GPS/NAV stopped working. The green light that normally blinks stayed
on full time, the box made a clicking noise every couple of seconds,
and the...
