Aluminum vs Fiberglass landing gear - Pro's and cons. by
Bart Hull
I'm in the process of building a Team Tango (similar to a Glasair IIFG) and have
a few thoughts about the landing gear. The earlier kits had fiberglass "legs"
and the newer kits have aluminum legs.
I flew in a Tango with the aluminum gear and it seemed quite harsh on landing. I
know aluminum gear...

A-65 Continental 100 Octane Valves: HELP! by
Scott
Ok gurus,
Last Fall, I developed trouble in one cylinder (leakage past the exhaust
valve as evidenced by hissing sound coming out exhaust stack when
pulling the engine through).
It only appears to be one cylinder, but I thought now would be a good
time to pull all four and convert to 100 Octane...

Lawrance 37HP Radial Engines Reserve Met by
Victor Bravo
For those who are interested in an adorable little powerplant for a
light homebuilt, my Lawrance radial engine projects have now only just
met the reserve on eBay. There are less than 12 hours left on the
auction, so someone can still snatch these little things up for a
reasonably low price. Search...

aircraft brakes were never designed for stopping aircraft. by

Advice on flying Pitts with Haigh Locking Tailwheel by
Ditch
Hey all,
Here's the deal. I am going to be ferrying a Pitts S-1S from Florida to New
York next week. This airplane is equipped with a Haigh locking tailwheel. I
have about 800 hours in various models of Pitts (S-2A, S-2B, S-1C and S-1S) but
have never flown one with a locking tailwheel. I have...

FYI: Dec 12 MythBusters: Airplane Hour by
Jim Logajan
"Jamie and Adam take wing to test if a person with no flight training can
safely land an airplane and if a plane can take off from a conveyor belt
speeding in the opposite direction. Tory, Grant, and Kari jump on some
Hollywood-inspired skydiving myths."

You might want to also check out gyroplanes. NZ has a new one

Tire inflation pressure by
Paul Lee
What is the proper pressure to use with 5.00-5 mains and 10x3.50-4 nose
for a 2250 gross canard plane?
Another related question: both mains tend to loose air slowly - would
be flat after about 3 months sitting. Is this typical or should I get
new...

Wondering if you have someone could provide an answer to an engine
installation question. I have a hovercraft that uses a Tecumseh LEV
80-120 5.5 hp engine for the lifting propeller.
The question is weather the engine can be mounted with the

Book Review: Converting Auto Engines for Experimental Aircraft , Finch by
Paul
A little good information but mainly cheerleading
At one time, it was thought that auto engines were for cars, boat
engines were for boats, and airplane engines were for airplanes.
Eventually, Gardner diesel and Miller/Offenhauser racing marine
engines wound up in vehicles, Liberty, Napier Lion,...

FAA plane crash records? by
Larry
A friend of mine lost both parents in a plane crash when their Cessna went
down in 1976 or 1977. Nobody ever says a word about what happened. Any idea
where I could research the results of the accident investigation?
Thanks!

Pitts Screw Question by
VTflyer
I was planning on purchasing the Aircraft Spruce S2A hardware kit for an
S1C. I wanted to check and see if the sheet metal on the S2A is held
together with 10-32 screws as it is on my aircraft, a quick yes or no would
be all I need.
Thanks!
