Airshow crash in Canada by
[email protected]
I regret to say Bobby Younkin flying his biplane Samson and Jimmy Franklin
in his jet-powered WACO were killed in a mid-air at an airshow at Moose Jaw,
Saskatchewan. Here's further...

Airshow pirep by
iflyatiger
You still have today (Saturday) and tomorrow to go see the Sussex, New
Jersey airshow..
Flew in yesterday for the show and it was great. The volunteers did a great
job and were always helpful and friendly. The airshow was pretty much non
stop from about 1:00 till 5:00.
The new x-team masters of...

Airtex Interior Refurbish - Day 43 by
Mike Spera
Day 43 (Big Box #2)
Put the plastic back in the plane. Looks a bit too bright when compared
to the hat shelf. The Kiwi job on the headliner made it look MUCH
better. Removed the stains, however, the plastic is still a bit whiter.
Not too objectionable. The plastic also looks out of place because...

Airtex Interior Refurbish - Day 48 by

Day 48 (The Seats)
Just completed the seats. Not as tough or as time consuming as I thought
it would be. Maybe 10 hours total time. As I said in the previous
installment, I reused the rear foam. The rear seat backs rolled back on
without a hitch. Minimal adjusting to get it to look just right. I...

Airtex Interior Refurbishment - Day 50 by

Day 50 (Carpeting)
Once the seats were done and the wall kit was due to arrive soon, I
decided to go ahead with the carpeting. The Airtex guys insist the walls
are shipped “long”, so I should just butt the carpeting up against the
side wall aluminum. The wall kit will then fit on top of that,...

Airtex Interior Refurbishment - Day 51 by

Day 51 (Diversions)
As part of the wall panel installation, there were several small
subprojects that needed to be done. Some things were necessary to "clean
up" previous sloppy or failing installations. Others were needed because
the new walls were not made exactly like the old ones. Still...

Day 53 (Final Big Box and End of the Road in Sight!)
Well, the final shipment has arrived! Along with it, the bill. Total was
$2771 plus another $70 for shipping all 3 boxes. Again I was struck by
the dramatic comparison between the new and old wall panels. I cannot
believe we tolerated the old...

Airtex Interiors by
Dave
Looks we going with a complete new Airtex interior for our Warrior.
Has anybody here has any expirence with the "Duraplush" fabric? -
wear/staining/cleaning etc. Our Cessna had the "Duraweave" and it was
very rugged.
Also , any thoughts on painting the headliner? We will be using the
SEM...

Airvan aircraft by
John Pelchat
I was watching Discovery Wings when I saw a spot about the CAP
celebrating it's anniversary and I saw a scene with an Airvan in CAP
colors (lots of bright red and blue). I have seen nothing in the
aviation publications about this aircraft. Does anyone here know
anything about it beyond what is on...

Airworthiness Cert Still Valid? by
Carl Orton
OK; I posted a few months ago about how a plane I was interested in was
"de-registered" a short time after it was repossessed by the bank. (we've
already speculated on whether there was malicious intent or not, so let's
not go into HOW it got de-registered.)
Anyway, it went out of annual. We could...

airworthiness, dimmers, and other stuff by

From: 8300.10 chg 17 - The Inspectors Handbook
"(2) Airworthiness:
(3) Since “airworthiness” is not
defined in the FA Act of 1958, as amended, or in the regulations,
a clear understanding of its meaning is essential in

Alarus for training? by
Scott[_5_]
What do we think of an Alarus CH2000 as a primary trainer and as a weekend
flyer? I've run into a possible opportunity to buy a used CH2000 for
possibly well under market value (at auction, so it really depends on where
the bidding goes). I also have a couple of guys who might be interested...

Alcohol test by
Tri-Pacer
Are there any chemists in the crowd?
A few years ago Sportys sold an Alcohol test kit that consisted of a reagent
that was added to a small sample vial of fuel.
If the sample contained alcohol, the sample turned purple. Light purple
indicated 1%, dark 5%.
Sporty no longer carries the test kit....

All this Barron Thomas stuff by
xyzzy
You do have to give it to Thomas for coming on here and debating this
stuff.
Of course in some ways he is blind to how he is perceived, as is
everyone probably. His response, which is basically, "if you haven't
bought from me you have no standing to evaluate me" shows that he does
not see the...

G.R. Patterson III
Anyone based at BLM (Allaire in New Jersey)? I'm currently at Old Bridge and debating
moving. I would like info on FBOs, tiedown prices, restrictions, etc..
Thanks,
