1) Get an old pickle jar, fill 1/4 with water.
2) Get a Sharpie(tm) pen and mark the water level.
3) Put the cap on tight and keep in your plane.
4) When you want to test the fuel, open the jar and top off with fuel.
5) Replace cap and shake vigorously for 30 seconds.
6) Let the mixture settle for 1 minute. If the water level is the same,
no alcohol.

Last thing I would use is a pickle jar. Historically, I've had more leaks
and spills with pickle jars than all other glass jars in my fridge -
combined.

Granted Miracle Whip Lite, Smucker's Jelly (and) Smucker's Caramel Ice Cream
Topping don't leak a lot of liquid when tipped, but still...

I used the term "Pickle Jar" to refer to a generic jar about 1/2 liter in
volume that can be discarded if necesscary. Actually, I have been using
olive and jelly jars with success. As long as it is water tight and a
convenient size, it will work fine. It does, however, need to be large
enough to accept a "top off" from a gas pump nozzle.
