I need winch launch videos by
Bill Daniels
I'm starting to put together my presentation on winch launch for the SSA
convention in February and I need short video clips. Anything to do with
winch launch will do but those that tell a story about winch launch
operations will be especially appreciated.
Thanks.

Wanted: 2-33 left wing by
[email protected]
I'm helping a friend locate a replacement wing for a Schweizer 2-33.
Left with mild hail damage would be perfect but will consider left,
right, varous conditions. Reply to me: wby0nder'at'aol.com

Mini Cams by
[email protected]
A new member at our club had a small video camera, almost like a bullet
cam, but just slightly bigger. Al it takes is an SD card, he had a 1
gig card for this camera. He just clips it to his hat.
I did not get the name of this camera. But I think this member stated
that a famous skateboarder...

Crosswind Landings... But airspeed? by
Jmarc99
After having read all the posts in the previous thread, no one said a word
about de right airspeed to keep along the final approach... whatever this is done
with a sideslip or crabbing.
I am wondering what should be the right airspeed (calculated or not, 1.3 Vs + wind speed)
to get in a crosswind...

Newbie question: staying calmly behind glider tug by
[email protected]
I'm planning to join the local soaring club and had my first ride last
weekend. I was eager to take the controls while being towed and was
enormously humbled by the experience.
I've had my ppsel for several years, but do not have many hours under
my belt. Never the less, I was looking forward to...

Parachute question by
Duster
I'm planning on purchasing a new or used parachute to replace mine that
does not fit the contours of my ship. My question pertains to the
accepted longevity of emergency parachutes which I've often heard is
about 20 years. Because mine is 27 years old, I was just about to toss
my Security 250 in...

Transporting water to glider by
Bill Daniels
I Googled r.a.s and found posts about water beds, truck inner tubes and
collapsible plastic cubes from Wal-Mart. The plastic cubes will transport
50 gallons and fit inside my Jeep Grand Cherokee but nothing else will fit
and I don't want to unload the Jeep just for this chore. Full 10...

Robert Mudd has stolen items by
mat Redsell
Robert Mudd took two aluminum panels from our workshop to build a trailer
for his apis. In return me promised to replace those with two 12 foot
sections of similar material. I reluctantly agreed to this trade but Robert
has never given us those panels. I reminded him just before he left for...

SSA Website by
Chris OCallaghan
Just sent a note to Dennis to voice my disappointment with the current
SSA website. I preferred less splash and more functionality (and
reliability). It has been several months since the switch over, and
I'm still unable to access the photos section, one of my favorites.
Today was the tipping point...

"10km / only once" amendment by
K.P. Termaat
Thanks to people like Ian, Robert, Herbert, Jack, Ruud, Janos and other
respectable guys, I am very much convinced now that it cannot be that an
excellent 1000 km performance is japordized by an FAI rule of which the true
intention has been fulfilled in a very convincing way.
I am talking again...

On the second day of this year's 15 Meter Nationals, Karl Striedieck
chose the best direction for his flight and smoked the rest of the
field. He made 63.7 mph, 8 mph better than the second pilot and 14 mph
better than the third. Did he get 1000 points for this outstanding
performance? No, he...
