PowerFlARM at R5N Perry by
Ben[_4_]
How did PowerFLARM perform at Perry? Understand Dave Nadler was there
as the PowerFLARM rep to address concerns raised at the Seniors. What
up Dave?
FLARM works exceptionally well in Europe. Other than frequency, what
is the difference in the USA unit. Did the FCC require the FLARM
technology be...

CAI 302 date problem by
Bernie[_4_]
I flew yesterday (26 October) and had two hours, later I used the
Cambridge utility on my PDA to download the flight log from the
Cambridge 302.
First thing I noticed was that the utility said the flight was 111
hours long, and that the date of the flight was 21 October.
I later checked the log...

GPS Visualizer now supports Google Earth & airport codes by
Adam Schneider
A couple weeks ago, I posted a message announcing that GPS Visualizer
could draw Google Maps from your GPS data. Now I'm happy to say that
you can also use it to generate KML files for display in Google Earth:

Pilots, take note that you can choose...

Soaring in or around Maidenhead UK by
John Huthmaker
I am heading to England this afternoon for work. I'll be staying in Maidenhead for about a week. If I have any free time, it would be awesome to get in the air. Can anyone recommend a place I could get some glider time in that would be relatively nearby?

Laister LP-49 TE and polar info by
Jim Meade
I have a Laister LP-49 and am looking for a polar graph for it. I
would also like to talk to anyone who has added a total energy probe
to the vario on this glider. It has metal flight surfaces and a
plastic body with solid bulkheads. Might be a trick to plumb the line
from the vertical stab.

Most Landouts in One Day by
Kemp[_2_]
Expanding on cherokee3's and Alistar's thread, I have achieved the
lofty (and unplanned) status of more than one landout in a day. Last
month with a new XC pilot, I managed to put the Duo down at one county
airport about 30 miles away and then on the retrieve tow, got off too
early and had to land...

New fun racing format by
Kirk Stant
This past weekend the Arizona Soaring Association tried a new fun
racing format, and it was a blast!
A little background: The ASA runs a weekend racing series from April
to September, with a weekend race just about every third weekend.
Between races, the usual gang of suspects usually get...

I need a story for a television show. by
John Shelton
Ladies and Gentlemen:
I have been contacted by a television production company creating a series
on adventure sports. They were very impressed with the crappy media I gave
them about soaring and would like to include an "expedition" if we can meet
their parameters.
It is Friday afternoon and I...

Downloadable sailplane maintenance manuals by
Bela
I am in the process of compiling a digital collection of all
fiberglass sailplane maintenance manuals.
So far I found a source only for the DG & LS sailplanes at the DG site
http://www.dg-flugzeugbau.de/handbuecher-e.html
I would appreciate URLs for other types, in english.

Water Meter in Litres by
Mal
Hi after recommendations for a good water meter in Litres.
A faulty meter last year cost me dearly.
It reverted to gallons somehow and displayed litres.

More grist for the battle of the battery by
Bill Daniels
Lithium Ion rechargeables seem to have recently seen a 50% or so price drop.
A 4-cell, 14.8V, 8AH with charger and mounting plate can be had for $169.99
(USD). These are basically long endurance laptop batteries.
This is still too much for me given that a SLA with the same capacity is
around $25...

Desert MOA's by
Uncle Fuzzy
Please be careful out there. I just got an earful from a fighter
pilot who said he had an 'encounter' with a glider over the Pahranagat
valley tuesday afternoon. That's a VERY busy corridor Monday through
Friday.

FLARM-V7-Oudie setup by
dbrunone
Besides mechanical instruments and radio, right now my glider's setup is:
LXNAV Nano -- LXNAV V7 -- Oudie
I'm wondering if I switch it to:
FLARM Brick -- LXNAV V7 -- Oudie
Does anyone fly with this setup?? I don't have panel room for a dedicated FLARM display...the V7 and Oudie can...
