Blanik L-13 polar by
BTIZ
I have not seen any polar for the L-13 other than the one in the factory
manual POH. It does not reference the flap positions.
I have flown the L-13 and the L-23 (no flap)
For the L-13, the flaps do lower landing speed and the angle of the fuselage
on approach which affects the AOA of the wing. I...

103 Storage by
BTIZ
inside? outside in the wind and weather?
each wing supports part of the other with the "center spar pin" that
connects to the other root, could cause some undo stress on the fuselage
where the free end of the spar might bang around in the winds..
I do know of a Grob 103 that was stored as such.....

Las Vegas Wave by

Wave Conditions in the Las Vegas Valley last Sunday.
Flights to 17,000 ft, no planned wave window to get higher.
I've read reports from Colorado, but have heard nothing from Minden,
Tehachapi or Cal City.
Wind reports on Mt Washington NH were 80knts, if it were not for the storm
dumping 47inches...

I'd be interested in CG location also... your pilot weight and which counter
weight in the tail.?
I'd also like to know your progress on getting the "category" certification
you need for the USHGA insurance.

Can a Private Pilot tow gliders and get paid? by
BTIZ
I'll agree that a Private Pilot cannot be compensated monetarily for towing
services rendered, he may log PIC time towards additional ratings while
towing.
I'll also agree that 61.113 is very confusing.. but para (g) says he can act
as PIC, it does not say be can be compensated.
The insurance...

Missing Glider? by
BTiz
A Cobra trailer has been parked outside the fence, on a public street,
at the local airport for the last two weeks.
Not normal to see glider trailers at this "in the big city" airport.
Is someone missing a trailer? Unknown if there is a glider inside,
trailer is marked "Ventus 2" with "00" contest...

ILEC SN10 remote control by
[email protected]
I eventually want to buy a remote control unit for my ILEC SN 10B,
but I´m not shure where to store it in flight to get easy access to
it. Where is the best place for it in the cockpit, so it doesn´t
disturb the handling of the ship? Does anybody have experiencies/
pictures?
Thanks,
Bernd

Sailplane Finishes by
Buba Smith
Just wondering about peoples experience with various refinish products
for sailplanes. I am going to refinish parts of my glider over the
next couple of off seasons. Right now I am leaning toward using an
Acrylic Urethane from PPG and a polyester filler. I am familiar with
Simtec Prestec. I have...

Cambridge Model 20 to OLC by
Bubba
FYI...
For several days now I have been trying to get a good log posted to OLC.
Part of this process involved running a program "cai2igc.exe". I kept
getting "Runtime error 200". This was because the cpu was too fast.
Reran it on an old laptop and it worked fine. Just wanted to pass this
along...

Collision Avoidance and ATC by
Bubba
In the US, ATC is only responsible for providing separation services
between IFR aircraft, not IFR from VFR. They will call out VFR
aircraft time permitting. A glider pilot with a transponder might have
the false impression that someone is providing separation services for
them. This could...

Cambridge Model 20 to OLC by

What do I need to do the get a valid IGC file posted to OLC? I am using

the security checks are good. When posting to OLC, OLC checks the file
assuming it came from a Cambridge 302 (I am using a Model 20) and fails

our sport and it's pilots. It appears that Naresh is the pivot man in a
