Practice Day task was a 2 turn TAT with a 02:30 Min Time. #12 which is
North of Seminole and #1, which is south of Seminole were the TP's with
a 15 and 20 mile radius. Lift was good with 2-3kt Averager climbs. BUT
the lift quit at 4:30. So if you weren't going home by then, it could
of been a...

with SZ, who is also helping. Sam, has been weatherman for many

Open & 18 Meter USA Nationals day 1 # 711 reporting by

very weak lift. First day, Tuesday, May 29th, was called on the grid
as no contest, due to winds and weak lift, for both National Classes.
The Regionals had...

Region 5N Perry, SC # 711 reporting by
[email protected]
When you have the chance, you just gotta do Perry sometime, somehow,
someyear. The Perry Soaring group has about 7 members. They put on a
very well run show. The meals, the folks, along with all the camp fire
talk make Perry a must. Practice day saw some good weather. Lift was
3-4 kts., and some...

# 2 Day 05 Seniors USA # 711 reporting by
[email protected]
Day 2 was changed while we were in the air. A large fire to the North
west of Seminole put a large smoke trail into the air. This large smoke
trail crossed our paths to the first turn which was to the, ya, North.
So a task change to a assigned task with #28 which is East and then 33
which is...

Ls8 vs SZD--55 by
[email protected]
How do these compare? Not performance wise (no ambition to fly comps and still a beginner at ca 100 hours) though specs seem close for ls8 in 15m config but in all other aspects.
Price difference makes me wonder which way to go...
Has anyone flown, owned both?

I announced the following FAA rule in my popular newsletter (please
see www.eglider.org)
This is just the first of new airspace rules ending the airspace
freedom we have enjoyed up to now, and may make glider flying near the
major east and west coast corridors impossible or impractical.
