10k Flights by JS[_5_]
Today at Mountain Valley Airport, Tehachapi, California there were about 18 10k flights! Weather was 66F/19C and sunny, but no real lift. Five of the flights were in three sport canopy equipped 1-26s participating in the annual Open Cockpit Regatta. We'll get some up on OLC. Jim

Books? by Entelin
It's winter here and I figure I should spend some of the time furthering my book knowledge of soaring. I fly XC and compete, but in hanggliders not sailplanes. I assume there are well regarded books from the sailplane perspective out there. I'm looking specifically for anything that gives me better...

Dick Johnson tests by [email protected]
I have been on the search for Dick Johnson's flight test PDFs of the HP304CZ, Discus 2 and the Duo Discus but unable to find them so far. Would anyone from the states be willing to share them? They are not easy to find when you live in Europe :(

ASW27 Trasponder Antenna Installation Inside Fuselage. by Paul Birkett
Hello, my intention is to fit a Transponder Antenna within my ASW27. I was wondering does anyone know where on the ASW27 Fuselage is not Carbon or Aramid(conductive) construction, which would allow internal fitting of an antenna such as a Dolba BD1, Dolba BD2, FUNKE DP1090-5 or similar?...

Task Declarations using FlarmConfigTool. by Tim Newport-Peace[_4_]
When writing a Task Declaration to FLARM using FlarmConfigTool, it is noted that the Waypoint database is dated 2009. While some countries Waypoint lists are static, for others they are dynamic, changing on a regular basis. The Worldwide Soaring Turnpoint Exchange now has updated FLARM...

Cessna Citation N238JP Runway Incursion at KUDD by [email protected]
A snotty Citation driver tries to blame me for HIS runway incursion during my takeoff. Unfortunately, I turned on the cam just after making my call and crossing the runway hold line to take the active (you can see my fingers on the cam in the opening frames). He claims that I never made a call, but...

ADS-B Update by Darryl Ramm
It must be time for some more ADS-B posts, either that or we can talk about PW5 :-) With the ~$350 street price Trig TN72 GPS source now available in the USA I wanted to revisit my understanding of the situation with ADS-B Out in gliders. I wrote a forum post for local Northern California pilots...

1000km flights by [email protected]
On 30 December 2017, there were 34 flights of over 1000km posted onto the OLC. These were all in Namibia and South Africa. What is the record number of +1000km flights done in a single day? I would imagine there could have been more flights done because not everyone posts their flights on OLC.

Lubricant for spar pins by Jonathan St. Cloud
Did a search of RAS and all the threads were quite old, so I thought I would ask what lubricant do you use when assembling your glider? I have noticed that the lube that comes with Schleicher gliders seems to have more friction and lube. Of course there is the old standby of white lithium, but...
