Seminole-Lake Gliderport is Thriving by
Rich Owen[_2_]
First I would like to wish all our fathers out there a Happy Fathers Day! With as much sadness as we have had in Orlando recently it is good to celebrate a very special day.
The company sent out a press release on September 10, 2015 that announced the change in leadership at Seminole-Lake...

Aniversary by
Richard
November 11 2001 was the last time I stepped into a cockpit.
It was the last time I was too broke to have a few "goodies".
In honor of which I have made a $400 trip to the local model railroad
shop.
Which has also been about average per month.
But I have something I can hold in my hands, not...

Anyone test fly both the JS3 and the Ventus 3? by
Richard DalCanto
I have a deposit on both with FES system. The JS3 would arrive in 2020. The Ventus maybe 2021. Reading the POH, the Ventus may have gentler stall characteristics (according to the manual with forward CG it won't drop a wing on stall either level or in a 45 degree bank). The JS3 manual makes it...

FES climb rate at 15kW power? by
Richard DalCanto
I was looking at the FES manual, and I was curious what climb rates (in ft/min) people are getting in 18M gliders at the recommend sustained climbing power of 15-18kW? Are you getting over 3,500ft of total climbing? I have a JS3 on order with FES sustainer option (because I don't plan on...

New Generation Vario's by
Richard Frawley
All,
I am seeking contact with anyone who has recent experience with the any of
the latest generation of Vario (Butterfly, LX7, etc etc).
They do seem to full of many features that I will never use (apart from the
noise and the wiggly bit, I really only used a couple of things (wind and
final...

Duo Discus XT by
Richard Frawley
HI
Recently flew a 2008 Duo with the 5 bladed sustainer.
Started very fast and beautifully with very little height loss.
When it came to putting it away, it was, however, difficult to get it to stop rotating.
Yes, put it half way retracted and yes, used the decompression to also slow it down as...

El Nino impact on NZ soaring by
Richard Hanschu
According to the NOAA this year will be a El Nino (ENSO) year
(http://www.noaanews.noaa.gov/stories2004/s2317.htm), but likely a
weak one. My trusty copy of The New Zealand Weather Book tells me that
in a negative Southern Oscillaton (El Nino) there are more frequent SW
flows with more rainfall W...
