Groundloop accident at the Senior Contest by
John Good
At around 12:54 today, Thomas Johnson (V12 - MiniNumbus) was injured in a takeoff groundloop accident. He was airlifted to an Orlando hospital, where he'll be met by his wife.
Emergency medical personnel were pleased with his vital signs and cautiously optimistic about his prospects for...

Does anyone have a copy of the circuit schematics ( not the installation wiring)
for this radio.
I have schematics for lots of other airband radios if anyone needs one.

WX block and seal question by
Brad[_2_]
Is the stuff in the #2 WX block supposed to be a runny liquid? I was
expecting something a little more like the seal material.............I
almost poured the whole damn bottle on the top of my wing!

Pee bag gel by
soaringjac
We have cats and just got a new type of litter for them called SoPhresh Gel Lock. This stuff would be great in a zip lock pee bag! Super absorbent and turns into a gel immediately. I have not tried it in flight yet, but once i saw how this stuff worked i knew it would be great to put in some pee...

CNVV question by
Don Davidson
Hi, I'm planning to attend a mountain flying course at CNVV in St. Auban in June, and I'm trying to get answers to a couple of questions from others who have flown there.
First, I speak only enough French to mangle a dinner order. How much of an obstacle is that likely to be both for flight...

Glider Wheel Brakes by
[email protected]
I know, I know. BTDT. Has anyone purchased a NEW sailplane lately,
and been happy with the wheel brake? The ONLY glider I've ever flown
with a decent (not great, but decent) wheel brake is the LVVSA's G103
Twin Astir. For me, a GREAT brake will REQUIRE moderation on my part
to keep from grinding...

Oximeters with alarms, data logging, and prices less than $300 by
Eric Greenwell
I can't believe how cheap oximeters are getting. Standard fingertip
models are available for $50; fingertip and wrist units with alarms,
data logging, and software are available for less than $300.
$50 Fingertip unit oximeter (no more excuses for using oxygen without...

Parachute recommendations by
Jim Meade
I'm looking at a parachute for a glider. Would like to use it for
other flying, as well, if it is suitable. INo clue of the advantages/
disadvantages of any of them.
Suggestions?

1800km Sierra Wave XC Flight Today by
Kemp
Today Gordon Boettger flew his Kestrel on a 3TP flight of about 1800km
out of Minden, Nevada. A sunrise takeoff lead to the first turn near
Chilcoot, then South to near Inyokern, back North to Susanville, then
down to Palmdale. This flight handily beats my flight of last year on
a similar route. ...

Contest Safety by
birddog bob
Why don't people in SRA and SSA get the message about contest safety?
A unnecessary loss of life because the FINISH GATE was used and not a
FINISH CYLINDER.
Charlie Spratt and the top racing pilots want the finish gate at
contests because it is so exciting! All the near misses in the pull
ups and...

Pawnee air-oil bear strut pressure by
Larry Ruggiero
Yes I know they’re problematic. Just returned our PA 25-235 from its annual, where one of ours was rebuilt (locked solid) and both serviced. Like I assume many of yours are, our Pawnee has no hopper and will never see gross weight again. So should the air side of the struts still be 575psi per...

ASK-21 - is a tail dolly necessary? by
Dave Springford
My club is buying a K-21 for student training and I am wondering if a
tail dolly is necessary for ground handling?
We plan to get the tail wheel option - not the tail skid.
Does the K21 balance like the Twin Astir so it is easy to turn on the
ground when towing it back to the launch point?
When...
