micro-mesh by
[email protected]
Has anyone used the micro-mesh kits? My canopy had an unfortunate meeting with the ramp today, and after two hours with Novas #3 it still needs attention. It is an acrylic material, and the scratches are not really deep, but I can fell them with my finger.. I flew it after the incident, and my...

Downhill gravity launch video by

Someone recently posted a link to a video that showed
a glider simply rolling downhill until it picked up
flying speed. I can't seem to find that video. Help?

Artificial slope soaring by

Video of indoor slope soaring miniature glider:

Has anyone thought about trying this with a full sized sailplane?
Perhaps a Sparrowhawk and a big-rig truck?
I don't see anything in the Sporting Code that would prevent someone
claiming a...

Google Earth viewer by
Fred Blair
I can't find it now, but there was an add in for Google Earth on here last
month that would replay an IGC file; it was so real to watch the tow from
our gliderport, just like a regular video.
Does anyone have the link?
Thanks,
Fred

I've been on this group for over a year with all content coming across
clearly. Today when I openned the group there was a wide panel of
Google ads and usenet instructions which overlapped the messages of

Yet another potential source of lift?
http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2007/11oct_undularbore.htm?list812469
The question is how long do they last and how far they propagate?
And, of course, how do you catch one?

Interesting New Book - Sailplane Design by
Paul Remde
Hi,
I will soon have in stock copies of a new book called "Sailplane Design - A
Guide for Students and Designers, From Drafting to First Flight" by Vittorio
Pajno. I have not received the first batch yet, but the data I've received
so far looks very interesting. It is a very complete book at...

Postings being removed? by
Neptune
BlankI hate to sound paranoid, but I had put on a posting asking for
information on oxygen systems. It disappeared after several days. I
reposted - same thing - was gone several days later. I then posted what I
thought was a nice bit of information and suggested preflight for the D1 -
same thing -...

AOPA by
Chris OCallaghan
Casey,
The AOPA is a mixed blessing for glider pilots. It is by far the best
aviation advocacy group (perhaps in the world), and they appear to
provide beneficial services to individual members. But they advocate
selectively. And glider pilots are so far down the list, it would be
easier to...

Multi - probe by
KP
Hi All
Our club G103 has a muli-probe and when you slide the probe in you
cannot feel the "O"rings, it basically falls in. It must be leaking,
pitot / static / TE?! What is the best way to replace the rings? Were
do I get them?

European cold snap by
Bill Daniels
It seems that late winter has been frigid in Europe.
See: http://www.esa.int/export/esaEO/SEM980P256E_index_1.html
One presumes discussions of global warming are at a low ebb.

Camera for cockpit photography by

I was browsing a CompUSA today and came across what looks like nearly
the perfect camera for taking photos from the cockpit. It's a Kodak
V570. 5 megapixel and a 23mm equivalent wide angle lens.
Here's a review:

best bet under 10K by
[email protected]
I've been looking around the for-sale ads for sailplanes, and it seems
to me if I am willing to spend between ten and twenty thousand bucks,
there is a lot to choose from. There are plenty of older fiberglass
sailplanes in that range, and some decently-performing metal ships like
the 1-35. But...

had noted an increase in hits to the site. He sent me the following
