For Posteriority - Part D – By Daryl S. Kabatoff by 2G
If I were mayor of Saskatoon I would have an annual Indonesian Islamist day of pedophilic cannibalism supervised by Catholic priests at every Tim Horton's in the area surrounded by tortured trees with decorated idols while black rap music is being played by Doukhobors who are obsessing about their...

Space Soaring by CindyB[_2_]
I have it on pretty good authority that Mojave is the place to be tomorrow, if you want to see a really big glider go really, really high..... N202VG. The fellow who pays the bills was hosting dinner in the same cafe where I was served tonight. Pretty cool, since I got to watch the first three...

Camouflaged/Hidden Field Obstructions by Bob Whelan[_3_]
In the spirit of the season - northern hemisphere winter, I mean, of course! - another RAS thread raised the question of how Joe Glider Pilot might go about assessing how much more field will be necessary if his chosen field has an obstruction along/near its downwind border. (They all do, of...

Mylar replacement by Bojack J4
How often should the mylar be redone on a horizontal stab/elevator? The glider is always stored indoors in its trailer, and everything looks fine with the factory installed tapes, etc. There is sometimes a quiet air sound that changes pitch with elevator deflection especially when cold.

Just What You Would Expect by Dan Marotta
After a week of flat skies here in NM, I handed my Stemme over for its annual inspection. So when I looked out the window this morning, what did I see? Why standing lenticular clouds, of course! Oh well... There will be more wave days before spring. -- Dan, 5J

Nationals – who cares? by Chris
Many of us do. But we are our worst enemies when it comes to promoting our sport. 3 classes are competing at the highest level contest in the USA and there is not a single report on the SSA website. The worldwide audience is at a loss when it comes to understanding what is going on at this airfield...

RESCED by Brian Brown by JJ Sinclair[_2_]
I just read two great accounts of survival and rescue, Frank (TA) accident review on Soaring Café and a book titled "Rescued", by Brian Brown available at Amazon.com. Frank told how he was able to get coordinates from his SPOT device and Brian told how rescuers "pinged" his cell number and got...

SAC CONDO SELLS AT A PROFIT by Jock Proudfoot
After many difficult months a buyer was found December 17, 2012 for 1025 Richmond Road, Unit 107. While it had to be sold below its asking price of $149,000 there was an additional minor profit of $2,000 for a retained deposit made on a previous offer which fell through. The profit on the sale by...

pitot blockage by Mike McCarron
If the Astir is at all like the Grob 103 twin II the pitot tube is probably a straight copper tube. Use some heavy duty safety wire to poke through the insect debris that is probably blocking the aft part. Disconnect the pitot tubing from the front and back seat instruments and add some water to...

Mounting tires on 3" solid tailwheels by [email protected]
I'm one of the club fixit guys, and I got a little obsessed with the task of mounting a tire on a Tost 3" dia. solid tailwheel. I tried all the good advice offered on this and other forums with zero success. Most likely I lack superhuman hand strength and three extra arms. Success took the form...
