Aviation Taxes in Florida by
soxinbox
I am considering moving to Florida, and I am wondering about the tax
implications. I am currently in NY, and there is a high sales tax on used
planes, but after that, no yearly taxes. I have owned the plane long enough
that Florida won't be charging a sale/use tax. I was wondering if they have...

Cost of flying by
Ivan Vegvary
I am new to this newsgroup, and kind of new to flying. (Took lessons
exactly 30 years ago = 53 hours). I am on my second lesson.
Question. Trying to figure the cost of airplane ownership. Is insurance
mandatory (Oregon resident) or is it strictly to insure MY airplane, if I
wish. If mandatory...

Rejex by
Dan Luke[_2_]
Been using this stuff for a month now on the new airplane. So far, Iike it.
It goes on like any liquid car wax. You let it dry for 20 minutes, then wipe
it off. It wipes off a bit more easily than regular wax haze.
The instructions say to apply it when temp. is below 85 F. and let it cure 12...

non-owner insurance by
Matt Whiting
Does anyone know of a company/agent who will write a $1MM non-owner
policy with $500K/seat rather than the typical $100K/seat?

Fuel Valves, Wing Tips, And You by
RST Engineering
There has been much discussion about Home Depot fuel valves, homebrew
wingtips, and the like. There has been much discussion about what is and
what is not allowed by the regulations.
Finally, somebody at the highest echelons of the FAA in Washington is trying
to put some sense back in the...

Interior Replacement Project - Day 5 by
Mike Spera
Day 5 (Small Start)
As I said in the “Day 0” installment, I ordered all new front seat belts
and shoulder harness retractors from Chief along with the Airtex
interior. The belts arrived and I proceeded to put them in. Since they
are relatively easy to take out again, they did not have to be...

Training in flight school aircraft by
Scott Migaldi
Now that I am an aircraft owner I wanted to do some training in my
aircraft before I take it up into IMC. I have been doing the typical VFR
types of drills on my own, stalls, slow flight TO/landings, I even shot
some approaches in VFR but not under the hood to make sure all the
gizmos worked. Now I...

Adding as US endorsement to your Canadian license... by
Dico
Hello,
I'm going through the paperwork to get a US "endorsement" (for lack of
a better word) on my Canadian license so that I can fly N# aircraft. I
understand that I need this paperwork done to legally fly an N#
airplane.
Has anyone gone through this and can point me in the proper...

3 passengers in the back of Mooney? by
Dico
Hello,
Someone asked me today if there was an STC or something that would
allow you to put an extra seat belt in the back of a Mooney. The
Mooney has a bench seat in the back and this particular guy has 3 small
kids (3,5,7 years old). Is it possible to add an additional seat
belt? Whats the...

Engine with Complex History by
Mike Granby
Long story:
I'm looking at purchasing a 1974 PA-32-300 advertised as having a
engine with 600 hours on it since new. After reviewing the engine logs
and doing some digging online, I find that the engine was exported by
Lycoming to Poland, where it was fitted to a PZL-104M. It stayed there
for...

O-320 Engine Costs - 172 by
Jerry Napoliano
As I've been discussing in another thread, I'm evaluating a 1982 C172P
for purchase. I was using $20k as the TOTAL cost of an engine
replacement, but apparently that is high.
I'd like to hear from owners that have experience with this. If I
take it in at 2000 hrs, what am I going to pay (read: ...

Does Av-Blend work? by
Denny
Yeah, this is a conundrum... It has a bluish tint to it, which I assume
that word is due to the active chemical molecule/element, as the
usual liquid, lubricant stuff is normally clear...
Now, the local FBO rented C-150's for decades, and for decades had
stuck exhaust valves on a regular basis...

RejeX update by
Dan Luke[_2_]
The rep's at the RejeX booth said it is not necessary to wait the full 20
minutes to wipe it off as the directions state. Soon as it dries to a haze,
wipe it off. Waiting longer makes it harder. They also said it may not work
if applied over waxes or other coatings like Pledge.
They also...
