If I Were Mayor of Saskatoon - Part One - By D.S. Kabatoff April 5 2020 3:59 pm 35,356 words “The very concept of a nation founded by European settlers is offensive to me. Old stock White Canadians are an unpleasant relic, and quite frankly, replaceable. And we will replace them." –Canadian...

Aileron "tuning" or "trimming" by [email protected]
Hi all, I have a PW-5 that requires side pressure on the stick at all times to correct a tendency to bank to the right. More pronounced at higher speeds, of course. Wing tape helps a little but doesn't eliminate it. But there is a visible tiny difference in aileron position from one side to the...

Radio base stations by Eric Greenwell[_4_]
I used a Tentec radio as a base station and crew radio for many years. It worked well at home and in our various motorhomes, my wife liked it, but it got old (25 years) and got cranky. I replaced with with an iCom A6, but my wife doesn't like it because it is not nearly as noise and...

Overstuffed panels by Bill D
This is in response to threads on FLARM and Mirasol displays which I think relate in a general way. If you back up 100 meters and think outside the box, we've been facing restricted panel space for a long time. FLARM is just the latest gadget but it may be the proverbial "straw". A solution has...

DG's new requirements for older DG ships by Bernie[_3_]
I'm wondering what other owners of older DG ships think of DG's requirement to pay a fee upfront in order to purchase parts and software to maintain their gliders. I own a DG 202/17. LL

sport airplane from private glider by Andy[_1_]
In a recent thread it was asserted that it was possible to get sport pilot airplane privileges without taking a knowledge test and flight test if the pilot held a private glider rating. For some reason I cannot see that thread. I had doubts that this was true and followed up with AOPA. The text...

Ground Launch Endorsement by Kevin Christner
Any CFIG's within a days drive of Buffalo, NY willing to give a ground launch endorsement. I've found an airport that will let me auto- launch of their 5600 ft runway. This seems to be preferable to 2.5+ hr drives to reasonable glider clubs. TIA 2C

First Solo by vic20owner
Well, It's been about 1 year asked about where to learn to fly gliders in Central FL on this newsgroup. Several of you directed me to Seminole Lake Gliderport, and my mom purchased an intro flight for me for my 37th birthday 6/21/2008. I did my 1st flight (my intro) on Dec 12 2008, and today,...

HELP. I need a TRUE story for television by Monday by John Shelton
Fellow soarists, I did not make myself clear. My apologies. The production company is not making a slasher flick. It is trying to find EXPEDITIONS with an element of danger that might include a survival segment. In soaring, we have plenty of possible danger. These guys are seeking expeditions....

Olancha, CA Landing Strip -- Worsening Condition by Steve Pawling
I drove by the Olancha strip last week and found that it is in even worse condition than the last time I saw it. Brush is starting to get sizable on the "cleared" landing area. The strip was already marginal even for 15M but the brush encroaching on the open area almost guarantees a ground loop. If...

Soaring in "western" Canada? by André Somers
Hi, I'm planning a trip to Canada for may and/or june this year. I plan to visit roughly the region west and North of Edmonton, say between Yellowknife and Vancouver :-) Does anyone know if there are any soaring operations that would give me an opportunity to fly there? Is there a thing like a map...
