Accounts of Parachuting Experiences by
[email protected]
Michael:
What sort of landings do the modern ram-air canopies give if the jumper does nothing to flare or otherwise control the touchdown? I was under the impression that a round chute can't give you the control and nice touchdown that a ram-air can but that it will deliver you reasonably safely...

Glder/Aircraft insurance by
gAiL
Hi,
I was wondering if there are any insurers on this list?
I fly with a university Gliding club and recently we had to re-insure our
small fleet of three gliders.
As most of you are aware, insurance represents a very significant chunck of
glider/aircraft maintenance costs, and as is often the...

Once again we greet you from Ephrata where a slight change in the

TO RULES COMMETTEE PLEASE READ – Nationals no ballast day by
AK
Nationals can now declare a “No ballast” day without all pilots
agreeing.
A motor glider or a heavy glider will have a considerable advantage
especially on a good day if this rule is not modified.
Here is an example, imagine Diana 2 (420 lb empty with instruments)
competing with ASG-29 15 m (620...

OLC Search Question by
[email protected]
I saw in a previous OLC thread that it was possible to search for flights by glider type. How do you go about doing that? I'd like to compare fights in my ASW 15 with other 15s for the year in my region, country, etc.

Most excellent! I forwarded this to an 11-year-old Kiwi (future pilot) who is taking his first ride in a glider this weekend up here at Kaikohe airport, which hails as the largest grass strip in the Southern Hemisphere still used by general aviation (built in '42 as a US Marines bomber base). ...
