SN10 Simple Glide Calculator Page questions by
Frank
Hi,
I've been enjoying my SN10B for several years now and really love it.
Recently I have been trying to use the Simple Glide Calculator (SGC)
page to do side calculations during competitions (I used to do this
with my LS4 prayer wheel but gave it to a pilot that had no computer at
all - tried to...

Winter 57mm Altimeter by
Ventus2NZ
I have just had my Winter 57mm altimeter fail it's instrument check.
From what I can ascertain, this is not all that uncommon. Does anyone
have any ideas or suggestions of a suitable 2-1/4" alternative.

How does Winscore calculate finish altitude? by
kirk.stant
A question: How does Winscore calculate finish altitude on a cylinder
finish? I assume it is based on the logger's pressure altitude
reading for the closest logger fix after crossing the finish line, but
how is that altitude adjusted for the local altimeter setting? Does
it compare the...

A. J. Smith, 1924 - 2004 by

history of competition soaring on September 5th 2004, with the passing

Waxing and polishing by
Senna Van den Bosch
Since winter is nearly ending and I'm doing final adjustments to my glider, I was wondering. Is it interesting to wax and polish it? I've seen a set of products he https://www.theaerodyne.com/gb/care-cleaning/188-basic-kit-for-glider-care.html

Some gliders safer than others? by
Nicholas L
Are some glider designs much safer than others? Or do certain designs put their pilots at risk for certain types of injuries during a crash?
Looking at the Libelle with the bubble canopy it makes me wonder if the glider flipped on you during a bad landing or crash if the pilot would suffer head/...

Cambridge 302 Gear/Airbrake Warning - How to Test? by
ContestID67[_2_]
I am in the midst of a project to install a gear/airbrake warning
system on my glider based on the built-in capability of my Cambridge
302. This system is better than the simple "airbrakes open, gear up"
warning system (http://www.wingsandwheels.com/pdf/gear%20warning.pdf)
as it also alerts the...

Does anyone use the Club Class? by
Pat Russell[_2_]
Does any country run competitions in the IGC Club Class?
USA does not. We have the Sports Class, which allows any glider to
enter, and another Sports Class (called, locally, the Club Class)
which uses a restricted list of gliders that is different from the IGC
Club Class list.
In another thread,...

Water, water, everywhere, but none for thirsty wings.... by
Chris OCallaghan
I was surprised that Karl's column in the November issue of soaring
hasn't generated any comment. To start the thread, I'll point out an
important fallacy in Karl's argument.
Karl suggests that water is unnecessary: a complicating factor in a
sport that only gives advantage if one pilot can...

12v - 12v charger by
5Z
I currently charge the (hard to remove) batteries in my ASH-26E with a
solar panel and charger installed on/in my trailer. During a contest,
the plane may not spend much time in the trailer during daylight hours,
but it does spend most nights in there.
The solution would be to use the solar panel...
