Photos needed WGC Rieti - a book! by
cernauta
The 30th WGC held in Rieti will be the subject of a book, richly
illustrated with photos of gliders, people, structures and action.
We have a full set of official photos of the teams, taken during the
opening ceremony. Nevertheless, if you have nicer, happier, funnier
pictures of your team (as a...

Last year I spent a very interesting and inspiring afternoon at the Lone
Star Flight Museum and Texas Aviation Hall of Fame in Galveston, TX. Any of
you who may have visited them in the past may be interested to know that the
buildings, aircraft, and exhibits were severely damaged by the...

A Free Source for US Airspace Data by
2KA
Last December I reported in this forum that I was starting a project
to extract airspace information from the National Airspace Resource
Files (NASR) published by the National Flight Data Center, and to
translate that information into file formats commonly used in the
sport aviation community (such...

Pressure Distribution Charts by
sisu1a
Can anyone point me to some good sources for computer modeled pressure
distribution charts for sailplanes? (particularly fuselages) I have
googled plenty with little results so I figured I would ask here. I
found some in my OSTIV publications I have looked through, but I have
most of the Technical...

spent loitering around 1000-1500 AGL praying for a good thermal to

FAA Glider Information on CD for $10 by
ContestID67
This has been posted before in a thread (about a lost aircraft
registration document) but I thought that a unique thread on the
subject would be useful.
For $10, the FAA will send you a CD filled with every Airworthiness
and Registration document for your glider (nicely imprinted with the
FAA logo...

Children in gliders? by
Roger Worden
Are there some common guidelines about how big or old kids should be before
going for a glider ride? My concerns are around the safety harnesses being
intended for adults...
How do you ensure the harness is safe and is not going to slip around or off
a kid?
Are there safe ways to use a booster...

Does anyone have a working Cobb-Slater pellet vario that they would sell?
Not the newer Cosim. They look similar.

Thanks BB for the response and explanations. Whether I agree with you or
not it is wonderful to have a little insight into how the rules committee
thinks and to know that someone from the rules committee is listening. 5

R2505 restricted airspace...Owens valley. by
fredsez
Saw an article in the Antelope Valley press that said something about
expanding R2505 restricted area. It had a map that covered the most
used route for glider pilots flying north and south over the Ownns
Valley. It extended from the present south boundry to almost Bishop.,
It also extended west of...

iPhone in a glider? by
Matt Herron Jr.
Has anyone thought about applications for the iPhone 3G platform in a
glider? It has an excellent sunlight readable screen with touch
interface that causes no loss of image quality. It has an
accelerometer built in, a GPS that is probably better than spot,
wireless for speech commands, remote...

B40 replacement speaker? by
Frank[_1_]
I think My B40 speaker is getting kind of weak. Even at full volume
it is just barely audible, and I'm wondering what to do for a
replacement speaker.
Any suggestions?

Frank (TA)

LX-Polar Program by
GM
Hi all,
does anybody have a usable, step-by-step decription of the LX-Polar
program? The instructions that came with the manual of my LX-20-2000
are pretty useless. I have a polar curve for my glider and I am trying
to calculate the factors a, b and c used to define the polar.
Thanks,
Uli Neumann

Tie Down Straps - Help Needed by
Paul Remde
Hi,
I am trying to provide a very high quality sailplane tie-down kit and I need
the help of this very knowledgeable group.
A customer of mine recommended that I buy and sell the tie-down system that
Cobra offers. I did some research and talked to Cobra about it. I came to
the conclusion...

Best club and commercial web sites by
Vsoars
Which clubs and commercial operations have outstanding web sites that
make people eager to give soaring a try? Out of date sites with
pictures that don’t include recent improvements and photographs that
are obviously from another decade can’t help us recruit members.
Great web sites can. Please...
