Happy Festivus Everyone! by
Mike[_8_]
Under the tradition of "Airing of Grievances," I have to say that I
have some serious issues with those that want to seemingly limit the
growth of "Club Class" in the USA.
Seriously-
Best regards to everyone for a great 2011 soaring season, where we can
all display our "feats of strength"...

SSA Copyright by
Andy[_1_]
I had a look at the on-line SSA Sailplane Directory and have to say it
looks like a very nice addition to our information sources. I noticed
that there were no pictures of the ASW-28 and was thinking of
submitting some.
I then found the conditions for posting pictures:
"It is a condition of...

A Little Technology Humor (SPOT) by
V1
I was reading the details in my SPOT user manual. In the Operation
Conditions And Climate section, it lists multiple potential issues,
including:
- If you exceed 700 mph (Mach 1) GPS accuracy degrades
Ahhh, OK - I'll keep that in mind ....

First Day of Winter by
Bob
Today, being the first day of Winter, the Tucson NOAA site's soaring
forecast for Tucson sure looks chilly. http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/twc/aviation/PHXWRKSRG.php
Check out the first useable lift temp! One might say it will be a
cold day in hell if any soaring takes place....
Forget the bug wipers,...

Towing Schweizer Gliders with tost rings? by
[email protected]
I am wondering if anyone has experience both physical and legal in
rigging Schweizer gliders to be towed with tost rings
I have thought about modifiying the moving part of the tow hitch
(making it narrower).
I have also thought about installing tost hitches on the glider.
We waste a lot of time...

G-103 Axle by
Roger Fowler[_2_]
Our club is looking for a main wheel axle for a Grob Twin II. Serviceable
used is fine. Does anyone have one laying around that we could buy or
borrow?
(We have a new one on order, but don't want to keep the students grounded
until it gets here.)
Thanks,
Roger

CAI302 bent control knob by
Walter Weir
The control knob on my Cambridge 302 is slightly bent. It rotates OK
but will not "double click" - it sticks when pushed in and has to be
pulled out. Is it safe to try to bend it straight? Any advice on the
best way to do this?

plastic or metal fenders on the trailer? by
chris
Lost another plastic fender to another blown tire . I can buy metal fenders locally for like
$18. Or somewhere I need to find a source for the plastic ones for my
old 1979 Komet trailer.
Who sells the plastic ones? (who supports Komets in the US?)
Is there any downside to switching to metal...

Towplane fuel discounts by
brianDG303[_2_]
At my club, we have three tow planes and buy $20,000 a year in fuel,
we just pay the pump (retail) price. Recently I was informed that we
should be getting a discount on fuel, I am about to talk to the
supplier about that, and wonder if there is a customary discount I
should be asking for.
Is...
