Duo Discus vs. DG1000 in a stall? by Gldcomp
Anybody who has flown both gliders from the front seat has to agree the DG-1000 is much nicer. The Duo has the annoying opening between the pilot's elbows and the backseat occupant's feet. You can't really carry anythig in the front seat at all. The DG is well ahead in comfort. "Philip Plane"...

Blanik/Let questions by gldrgidr
Noticed that all LET production has ceased including the L23 Blanik and the L33 solo. Why? Most reports have stated the cause of the L13 failure was fatigue, yet all L13's are grounded. Most fatigue failures are the result of very long life, yet they are not grounding L13's with over X number...

Cost to join SSA? by gldrgidr
What's a full membership in the SSA cost? I went on the SSA site and they won't tell you untill you have filled out all the forms. Is it so high that they are afraid to scare people off? John

Thermal Forcasting -Thermal index by gldrgidr
Years ago there used to be a website that would provide a thermal index for the day, by typing in info for an individual's area. I can no longer find it. I've recently been reading my old soaring magazines from the '80's and saw an article by Senn on the SOAR thermal forcast program. Are either...

Hobbs, NM by GLDRPLT
I have heard varying opinions about flying in Hobbs. I've never flown there, and am curious: what's it like, what are the dangers, what would I watch out for, how are the landing options, and what have been your experiences flying there for leisure or in competition? Some people say it's...

arizona soaring association by glen beckham
Thank you all for your helpful insight to the ASA.The members of ASA seem like a great group of people and contrary to one posters statement, am not trying to pick a fight. Racing would be great if I were at that level, though the intention of my post was to understand why there is not a more...

az soaring assoc by glen beckham
It seems to me that the ASA is just a private little racing club for those with expensive sailplanes. In my opinion the reason many people drop out of soaring after getting a license, is that there is no place to fly other then commercial operations which are more expensive and are focused on other...
