Crows? by
Colin Roney
I`m searching for good ideas how to deter crows from landing on my glider,
which is picketted out during the season, from wrecking my weather covers?

Is Trizact worth the money? by
[email protected]
I'm curious to know if experienced glider sanders think the 3m trizact is worth the money they charge for it. I can get more than twice the number of 3000 grit 3m purple sanding disks for the same price. They don't have the foam backing - but I can fix that. Is the trizact 3000 more than twice...

Ka-8b by
Ryan Wubben
After a long (12 year) absence, looking to get back into soaring, although
I've
been an active power pilot and have owned a variety of airplanes.
I used to own a Ka-6, but am thinking of a a Ka-8b that is coming up for
sale.
Any thoughts on the Ka-8?
Things to watch out for?
Difficulty rigging?

Paragliding task score software by
[email protected]
Hi,
I'd like to write a small programm (online) to evaluate our paragliding competitions. We usually set a couple of turnpoints with a radius of 400 meters and the aim is to pass all these one by one and fly to the target cylinder, the finish. Just to get an idea how it looks like, I made a small...

Dick Johnson Video Interview by
Kemp[_2_]
Like many others, I was saddened to learn of Dick Johnson's death
earlier this month. I interviewed Dick at the SSA convention in
February, but had not completed processing the video and let it sit,
like a number of other digital projects. Events of course, kicked me
in action, so this video...

the greatest gliding pilot in the world ! by
Mal[_4_]
Steve Fossett is being haled by Richard Branson as "the greatest aviator in
the world, he's also the greatest gliding pilot in the world"
I hope via a miracle they find him alive.
Given the technology he was carrying I find the chance of him being alive
remote.
I also noted Steve Irwin passed...

another question for you USA FAR experts: tetrahedrons by

Is the tetrahedron at an airport:
1) Supposed to be pinned down to show active runway
2) Allowed to be pinned down to show active runway
3) Supposed to pivot freely with the wind direction
(Background: our club has a long-standing policy to anchor the
tetrahedron. Some of us are really scratching...

Two very fun students by
Bill Daniels
This week I had the pleasure to fly with a couple of freshly minted 2nd
Lt.'s from the US Air Force Academy class of 2006. They were converting
their glider time from the USAFA soaring program to civilian CFIG's.
To say this young lady and gentleman are "good sticks" would be an
understatement. ...

Performance loss versus yaw string deflection by
Eric Greenwell
I don't recall ever seeing an estimate of the performance loss in a
glider as a function of yaw string deflection. Does anyone know what it is?
Ultimately, I'm wondering how much attention should be paid to
deflections of, say, 1/8", 1/4", 1/2", etc., on the usual 4"-5" long yaw
string.
I...

PowerFlarm “Own Transponder Detection" Rate by
John Carlyle
I’ve been trying to get the rate of "own transponder detection" by my PowerFlarm Core as low as possible. Nothing I’ve done has improved it beyond roughly every 10 minutes, on average. Sometimes it’s much worse, showing up almost constantly. Turning off PCAS isn’t really an option for me,...
