FA: Ellison's book by
Ian Johnston
Hi Folks,
I'm selling a copy of Ellison's "British Gliders and Sailplanes 1922 -
70". It's on eBay at
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6921575191
Quibblers note: both reserve and buy-it-now prices are less than I had
to pay to get this about seven years ago!

Help: Pirat (SZD30) part needed by
Ian Johnston
Dear Soaring world,
I need, fairly urgently, the connector on the wing centre section
which attaches the ailerons: it's flat plate with a threaded rod at
one end and two self-aligning bearings.
If anyone has any Pirat bits, or has a smashed Pirat, or knows anyone
in either of these categories,...

Whatever happened to... by
Ian Johnston
I was just reflecting on the Bright Hopes for the future of soaring
which have appeared here in the past. What became of ...
* the American Spirit / Eagle?
* the Genesis?
* the PW-5 / PW-6?
I know a fair few PW-5's were made, but did it ever come close to the

Wanted: budget audio vario by
Ian Johnston
It looks as if my CAV50 is on its way out, so I'd like to replace it.
Since the glider is, alas, not worth much now, I am therefore in the
market for something economical at 80mm. Has anyone out there got
something suitable going spare?

Where is everybody? by
Ian Johnston
In the good old days, this was a buzzing place. By comparison,
nowadays, the sagebrush is blowing across my screen. Where is
everybody?
John Roake ... Peter Masak (whatever did happen to the Scimitar?) ..
Iain Strachan ... all gone, it seems. It's pretty clear that usenet is
dying on its feet, but...

Ian Johnston
Anyone want a nice, cheap Pirat? About 1000 hours total (from memory),

parachute, OK (make and condition) clockwork barograph. Currently at
Borders GC, but I could deliver it elsewhere. Modest offers and any
enquiries...

Ian K
Anybody got any hints or tips on setting up a Microair
760?
I have an eltec(?) mic from svsp that was recommended,

tweaked the mic gain pot, but doesn't seem to make
any difference. Batt voltage around 12.5v.

Glider Re-finishing by
Ian K
Can anyone give a comparison between Glider Service in Slovenia, and
Refinish in Poland?
Costs are within spitting distance, so looking for ease of communication,
quality of finish, follow up service and all those other things that make
you choose a over b.
Cheers

Cambridge Instruments by
Ian McPhee
People do not come much better than Gary K at Cambridge. Just talk to
him on the phone and quietly he goes thru things with you.
Regretfully the quality control of Martinsville Cambridge left a bit
to be desired but it was real basic stuff which took 5 min to fix. Do
not blame Gary for Martinsville...

Microair vs Becker by
Ian McPhee
99% Microair are perfect but yes there have been problems with earlier
sr nos. There are several service notes from Microair that address
some of these problems. I will admit Microair are sensitive to its
antenna even problems with just some frequencies in the middle to
upper part of freq. ALSO...
