US-glider guiders only: Article in last Soaring by GM
Did anybody else read the article in the October issue of Soaring 'My last dog-fight'? I must have missed the memo but it seems like the US-law enforcement agencies have declared open season on the GA or more specifically glider guiders. First the totally unwarranted arrest in SC and now this...

Another 'Sully'? by GM
Cessna Caravan had to ditch off the coast of Hawaii. http://www.sfgate.com/news/us/article/hawaii-survivor-plane-lost-power-then-glided-5060760.php "To land on its belly with all the waves, that's pretty impressive," he said. "He's a glider pilot, too. So he knows what to do when a plane is stuck...

Not Soaring but still aviation related by GM
Very nicely made video. The shot at the very end is interesting as it shows, how inefficient airliner wings are despite the winglets. I wonder if such a shot was ever made with a...

Battery Packs for Icom hand-held radios by GM
For those of us who are using an Icom hand-held radio like the IC A20, IC A21, IC A2 or similar with an 1100mAh battery pack, this may be of interest: instead of buying an aftermarket pack, which run about $65, I dropped mine off at the local Batteries+ store and asked if they can rebuild it. Does anyone know what glider that is? by GM
Ran accross this nice clip on YouTube posted by the Bacchus Marsh Soaring group in Australia. At 3:11, a wing-mounted camera shows a glider I can't identify. It looks like a side-by-side glass ship with a conventional tail. Just curious what that glider is. Thanks, GM
