EW to Garmin 196 interface problem by Cliff Hilty
Does anyone use a EW model B data recorder(upgraded to accept GPS nema) connected to a Garmin 196 for flight verication? I have a problem with the combo. I was using a Garmin 90 connected to a SN10 and the EW without problems. The interface for the 90 was set to Nema/Nema 2.0. I replaced the 90...

SSA-OLC League Update by Doug Haluza
The final results are in for Round 1 of the US SSA-OLC League, and we had 25 clubs score; so the round was not devalued, and the top club got the maxumum 50 points. Each of the other 24 clubs got one point less than the next higher score, so the minimum score this round was 26 points. So it paid to...

Anyone know what happened to Bob Wander's site? by [email protected]
I had a look at it when I started gliding a few months ago but didn't think all the fancy books would help me at that stage. A few months have gone by and I tried to find his website again to buy the Thermals book and a few other interesting ones, including one that I believe was called 'Taming...

Powered relief system -- I can hear you laughing from here.... by [email protected]
OK, here goes: After reading all those recent posts about removing self-adhesive external male catheters, I'm going to put my already dubious reputation at risk and share my "invention." I have a Powered-Pee-Pump in my glider. Now don't laugh so hard - everyone does, till they get a closer look at...

Jaxida covers for Duo Discus -- FREE by Bob Korves
Set of Jaxida covers for Duo Discus, used, mfg. in 1999. Complete set for entire sailplane. These covers are intact and usable, but the fabric has become weak due to UV degradation. Several tears have been repaired with white sail repair (ripstop) tape. Covers look OK, but show some...

Fin/wing water ballast ratio? DG-300 by [email protected]
Is there a quick and easy rule for the ratio of fin to wing tank ballast. The DG-300 manual shows that it is roughly 1qt. fin per 6gal. of wing tank.. I assume this will vary between models.

Adhesive removal by [email protected]
Ok, We have discussed how to remove the male condoms used by a number of pilots as part of their relief systems. Now, how does everybody remove the remaing adhesive? Paint thinner, acetone, only kidding. But, how do you get that struff off. Soap and water does not seem to do the trick. What is...

Trailer ventilation by Simon Waddell
I live in central Europe - where the weather is neither too hot nor too cold. Seems to me that in the not too distant past many people fitted little solar powered extractor fans to their trailers to improve ventilation. Looking round our club trailer park the other day I noted that only one out...

Wiring Ipaq 3950 by TTaylor at cc.usu.edu
I am updating from my old Ipaq 3760 to a 3950. I am not sure which pin to put the +5V in on. The old 3760 used pin 9 (DCD RS232/USB +5V). The diagram for the 3950 has DCD RS232 as pin 6 and USB-UDC + as pin 19. Can someone tell me the correct pin to use? Thanks, Tim

Gap Tape? Electrical OK? by ContestID67
I know that this is going to generate a long thread but --- what is so great about $10/roll super thin, super flexible, super-wide gap tape? I had it in my mind once that thin was the important part to prevent seperation of the laminar flow or something equally distructive. However a friend of...
