New low budget two seater by
Tom[_22_]
Hi!
We are trying to get new two seater from various funds for our club. Most of the funds force to buy new glider.
Can you please help us a little bit with market research and suggest low budget two seater?
Thank you all!

LS-4 vs ASW-20 by
AttentionLEcureuil
Hi,
I'd like to hear about the people who were able to compare the
performance of an LS-4 with an ASW-20 in weak, average and/or strong
conditions. Which climbs best? Which glides best? By what kind of
advantage (is one glider really better than the other, or just average?)
Overall, which is the...

FLARM Technology for the US Gliding Community by
WE
There has been a lot of talk over the past several months about FLARM
and PowerFLARM coming to the US. Unfortunately, there has been not
enough information about these systems to support an informed
discussion.
John Cochrane and I both flew with Classic FLARM units in Hungary this
summer at the...

Discus Winglets by
Peter F
Hi Folks,
Two questions
1) Anyone out there know how to check the alignment
of winglets that have been retrofitted to a Discus
(CS if it makes any difference)?
I believe this is fairly critical & if it's wrong then
I'm better off flying with the 'normal' tips

Buy Glider without looking by
Casey[_2_]
Has anyone every sold a glider without the buyer looking at it?
I have my glider listed for sell and the guy is buying without looking at it and sending a cashiers check and arranging shipping....sound familiar.

Altimeter settings: QNH versus QFE by
[email protected]
I have a question for you CFIG's out the I recently moved to a
"flat" state from a "mountainous" state and noticed that every glider
pilot I have met and flown with in the "flat" state sets his altimeter
to zero (a QFE setting) instead of field elevation. Back in my old
stomping grounds, all...

Ventus C vs B by
tango4
Apart from the very sweet looking 17.6 m tips and tail ballast what are the
other differences between the Ventus B and the Ventus C.
Does the C have the same long cockpit as the B ?
I believe the C handles a lot better.

glider battery duration problems by
John Marshall
I need advice about the best choice of batteries for an asg 29e. lithium
ion would be outside manufacturer's remit and the insurer's plus too many
risks-the fuel tank is directly above the battery housings. I would like
something with at least 9 amp hours, whether gel cell or mh.

Production rates? by
Ed Byars
Congrats to SZD for making 5000 gliders. That's a bunch. How many years did
it take. What is their production rate and how does it compare with Western
European (German) factories? Must be a high percentage of training gliders?
Any military?
I have owned German gliders with serial numbers in the...

Constant speed or constant attitude? by
Jim
I would like to hear what other glider pilots have found to be helpful
in trying to center thermals.
It is common in gliding books to read that a constant diameter circle,
as a product of flying a constant airspeed and a constant bank, is
important in centering thermals. If the airspeed and / or...

Power Commercial to Glider Commercial by
Mitty
I'm looking at adding a commercial glider rating this summer. Never been in a
glider, but my hunch is that it will be a good learning experience even though
I'll never fly one for hire.
So ... trying to divine the meaning of Part 61.129(f)2
"20 flights in a glider as PIC" and "5 solo...

Use of weak links by
Paul[_7_]
Currently the club that I am part of don't seem to be too concerned about
the safety aspects of using the correct weak links for winch launching
and I'd like to know how safe it is.
Currently I see two issues with the winch launching:
1. Sometimes a weak link is not used at all. The gliders are...

Landing with one spoiler by
[email protected]
I committed one of the worst errors - an incomplete preflight check.
I did not check the hotelier locks to the spoiler rods with enough care
before takeoff. Coming into the pattern I extended the spoilers and
noticed immediately that something was wrong. The glider (SparrowHawk)
was pulling to one...
