Eberle trailer wheel rims by
Bob
Hi
I own an Eberle clamshell trailer. I have no spare wheel, and am
in search of one. I have visited at least four local tire shops where
I live (in Canada) with no luck. I know the trailers are of European
manufacture, and the bolt pattern may be metric. Canada uses the
metric system, but...

Eberle Trailer without Spring Assist by
Bob
I just acquired an Eberle trailer without the spring and or strut lift assist add on that most have. If anyone has experience with this maybe you can give me some ideas on how you open and drop the support rods when alone. No problem when someone else is around, I lift, they drop the rods. Lifting...

Electric Tarus - super bird or gliding's 787? by
Bob
About this time last year the gliding world, at least in print, was
gaga over the Electric Tarus, and since then there has been total
silence. What I read caught my fancy, and a friend in Durango, CO had
one on order. But, before his ever came in, he was killed in the
crash of a gas-powered...

Space exploration can be interesting sometimes. BIG lift on Mars!
Some of our recent lousy lift in competitions could use a bit of this
here on Earth. Hang on! Vario is pegged!

Deadly week by
Bob
It appears the last weekend was pretty deadly for gliding in the
west. We had a gas-powered Tarus go in north of Durango, killing its
pilot, and reading other reports, there was reported a 2-32 somewhere
else in Colorado involved in a fatal during a check ride, and a guy
reported to be flying...

"Jetman" considered by FAA to be a "glider" by
Bob
Another "jet" in the news today in Arizona. Yves Rossy, the Swiss guy
who has small wings with jets attached to his back, who drops out of a
helicopter, starts the engines and flies around using his body and
arms for control, and then lands under parachute, had planned a
"flight" over the Grand...

First Day of Winter by
Bob
Today, being the first day of Winter, the Tucson NOAA site's soaring
forecast for Tucson sure looks chilly. http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/twc/aviation/PHXWRKSRG.php
Check out the first useable lift temp! One might say it will be a
cold day in hell if any soaring takes place....
Forget the bug wipers,...

Libelle 201 Trailer Fixtures by
Bob
I am looking for a fuselage dolly and the fixture that captures the nose of the glider from an eberle trailer. Does anyone have or know of salvageable rigging from a possibly non salvageable trailer? I am in Florida so only stateside makes any sense.
Thanks,
Bob

Predecessor to the ETA - BIG ANCIENT self launcher by

Being a retired earth systems scientist, I try to keep up on whats in
the news, and do a lot of reading, especially when it is available on
the web. And, being involved in gliding (formerly in hang gliding) I
found a recent article in SCIENCE NEWS to be "interesting." Check

Vintage Home Gliding Movie(s) by
Bob
One of our Texas Soaring Association (TSA) members, Dave White,
discovered a VHS tape in a dusty old drawer at TSA made by June Wiberg
who compiled and narrated all of her old glider days home movies from
the 40's to the early 60's and sent it to TSA. June was the wife of
Wally Wiberg, who owned a...

Near mid-air by
Bob
In the Orange County Soaring Association newsletter Zero Sink First
Quarter 2010 there is a good article on a near mid-air. A couple of
things jumped out at me as I was reading the Article.
1. The towplane involved in the near mid-air did not have a radio!
2. The tow path apparently was in the...

Bob 7U
Hi,
Does anyone know of a source for a G-meter that is installed inside

Also, are temperature probes for the LNav still available?
Thanks,

Becker & Headsets by
Bob 7U
Hi,
I have a Becker 3201, connected to a Becker Speaker box (1PL 042) that
has two DIN sockets. One is currently being use by the Mic and the
other I believe is for a headset.
Any ideas where I can get a lightweight headset with the DIN
connection?
Thanks,

PowerFlarm flight declaration by
Bob 7U
I have taken a brief look at the information concerning the PowerFlarm
and I still seem unable to find out how you make a flight declaration.
The 'brick' version will have a remote USB port that reads a memory
stick but will there be a way to enter a task using a PDA for example?
Will you be able...
