Taking micrologger abroad by JS
Things that small will not be a problem. Lithium glider batteries are another story. The Handpresso Hybrid is the thing security seems to like most in my carry-on, but while pulling shots of espresso at 39,000' I've probably sold a few to flight attendants. Jim

COBRA Trailer for sale by [email protected]
2001 Cobra trailer is all aluminum construction rigged for ASW-20 but can be set-up for many 15 and 18 meter gliders with appropriate fittings. It has a third rail ramp extension and winglet storage brackets. The tires were replaced a couple of years ago for aging considerations. It is in...

LFILORIGIN sentence in IGC file? by [email protected]
A user of my new IGC logger Excel spreadsheet sent me a pair of IGC files that were clearly duplicates *except* that the first few B records of one file contained clearly bogus GPS locations (displaced a few thousand miles due east!). Naturally, this caused the dupe detection routine (which...

The new Seattle Sectional came out today and I as I understand it (not seen one yet) the Class B area around Sea-Tac is now different. Does anyone know who or how the .sua files are created, and when/if we may see updates. I am guessing that there may be other changes across the country as...

More grist for the battle of the battery by Steve Leonard
Larry Goddard wrote: 'Probably OK. However, if you are really concerned, one option is to put a Schottky diode (of sufficient current capacity) in line. It will introduce approximately 0.5v of voltage drop over the whole range of supplied voltage.' Darn good idea, Larry. Even if you aren't...

Cal City Wave Camp a Success! by Michael Reid
I wanted to extend a big thanks to everyone at Cal City and Caracole soaring for a successful wave day on Saturday. The front that pushed through southern California this weekend provided thermals to 9000' and wave as high as 24,000'. And from the sound of things on the radio, Warner Springs had...

Cambridge file conversions for OLC (yet again) by Steve Leonard[_2_]
So, everything was working fine, and the last two flights have not been accepted. In looking at the file that I can download from OLC, it does NOT have the same name as the file I uploaded. Is OLC once again unhappy with Cambridge and kicking out converted Cambridge Model 10/20/25 files? Only...

I've started a blog about my experiences as a student pilot and now as a low-time private. I hope this will be helpful to new soaring student pilots. When I was starting out, I found a wonderful web site for those new to the sport, that really helped me a lot. That site's gone, so I thought I'd...
