current medical?
Thanks!

USA - All students must show "papers" by
Tom Serkowski
http://www.aopa.org/whatsnew/regulatory/regtsa.html
Beginning October 20, 2004, all pilots wishing to recieve instruction
- including a BFR, must show proff of US citizenship to the
instructor. Very scary.
I have heard from a reliable source that if a CFI allows a passenger
to touch the...

Make Sailplane Racing Great Again by
[email protected]
You will only improve if you are honest with yourself and admit your weaknesses. A chain is only as strong as its weakest link. A tow rope looses 50% of its strength with a knot it in.
For those who have tasted flight, their eyes will be forever turned skyward.. And for those who have tasted...

Gear Warning by
Gordon Schubert
I had gotten an almost brand new (12 hrs) Genesis 2.
My experience with retractable landing gear was somewhat
limited. At the end of my sixth flight I crossed the
field to check on traffic and turned into the pattern.
I announced my downwind and started my landing checklist.
Just as was about to...

Standard Cirrus by
Walt Connelly
Okay folks, your thoughts on the Standard Cirrus? Good, bad indifferent? Flying tail, pros and cons? I am new to gliding, Commercial Add on, 140 flights and approx 100 hours, mostly in 1-34. Would this be a reasonable next step?

Harder to stall in a steep turn? by
Jim
In his book Gliding, p100, Derek Piggott writes:
"In most modern gliders, the elevator power is not adequate to pull
the wing beyond the stalling angle in a steep bank and it is only just
possible to reach the pre-stall buffet with the stick right back.
This is very different from straight flight...

Best Software and Hardware for Turn Area Task? by
Snead1
I am currently flying with a Cambridge GPS NAV and a L-Nav. I would like to up
grade or add equipment to help me fly the Turn Area Task. What works well and
what are the important features that can aid in making correct decisions while
flying the Turn Area Task?

GP Gliders GP 14 Velo has finally FLOWN!!! by
Tim[_11_]
Good Evening All:
After a very long wait, the GP 14 Velo took to the air yesterday (November 24th) from Krosno, Poland by both aero-tow and electric self-launch. More details to come but check GP Gliders on FaceBook for pictures and video. First pilot reports are very good. We are finally...

SSA responds to ANPRM by
David Kinsell[_2_]
No one has commented yet on the SSA response? Likely to be the biggest
impact to soaring in the U.S. in many many years. On the SSA site if you
haven't seen it yet. Maybe pilots flying out of lower states just don't
worry about it.
I was very happy to see it posted a week before the...

Polar with spoilers extended? by
Tim Taylor
I am working though some calculations and need the sink rate as a
function of speed with the spoilers fully extended. Does anyone know
of such data for a glider? How do spoilers extended affect sink rate
as a function of speed?
Thanks,
Tim

Jet Sailplane Racing League by
Dr. John
I think it is time for a Jet Sailplane Racing League. Here me out
and I promise this is not heresy and might even be a boom to the
sailplane community. The Rocket Racing League was planning a racing
league similar to the Red Bull races using a fiberglass Canard Long-EZ
type airframe at a Million...

What glider if not a Speed Astir? by
Flyhighdave
So some of you really don't think to highly of the Speed Astir. What then would
be your recommendations for a first glider for a low time pilot training &
soloing in a G103 II A? I need something under $20,000. that will keep me happy
for a while. Thanks for your input!

Anything new in to combat motion sickness? by
Gary Emerson
Greetings,
I typically suffer from motion sickness early in the season and
sometimes on longer flights if the thermals are rough.
I have one of the electronic wrist devices. It's of some benefit, but
it's not an instant cure, at least for me.
Just curious if there are any new meds or other...
