peak oil-kyoto protocol and soaring by Brad
Is there any correlation between all these subjects? Or can we blissfully soar away the next few decades? And I'm talking about all of us, not just the wealthy who don't seem to mind paying more for fuel. Brad

What's up with the Sparrowhawk? by Brad
Not heard anything lately about the Sparrowhawk. I did hear a rumor that their chief assembler quit, and there are other bits floating around that pique the interest. It's sad if they do/did go "out of business" It was exciting to see someone with balls finally get a sailplane company started here...

horiz tail airfoil observations by Brad
I've been perusing Fred Thomas's Sailplane Design book lately. I am curious, why do most of the modern sailplanes use a non-symetrical airfoil for the horiz surface, and most of the "older" sailplanes use a symetrical airfoil? I was looking at a Krokus at the Pensacola airshow over the...

small raptor in my shop by Brad
Was hoping someone could help me identify a raptor. I was working in my shop the other day, the door was open and I was waxing the Glidair plug.....getting it ready to start laying up mold side 2. Suddenly a bird flew right through the doorway, swooped right over my head........and crashed into the...

LS-1C canopy mod by Brad
A friend has an LS-1C that we are planning on completly restoring. One of the planned changes is to add a 1 piece canopy. Anyone out there ever done this? Also, we are looking for front hinge canopy parts and latching hardware from wrecked gliders that we can use for the project. Thanks, Brad

Gary Mitchell is a ****in' Freak!!!! by Brad
Hey Gary, now that's the way to extend your flight time.....and be comfortable! Five hours was my limit in my old Sensor 510 with a Bennet pod (I am dating myself here...:o) Of course I did not drink anything either. This was back in the days of B.C. (Before Camelbacks) Blue skies!

ELT's by Brad
My guess is that the fatalities we saw last season are the reason ELT's are being considered. Making contest pilots use them is the logical first step, very clever. I sat in the local airport restaurant for over 2 hours coordiating with the local Police and SAR folks last spring, we were pretty...

Calling a Good Task by Brad Alston
All of this banter about classes, and what's fair or not for a class, leads me to a couple of questions. Now, please understand that I am not a competition pilot so forgive if I sound a bit naive. I have been doing a little online research but don't find a lot of information...or I'm looking in the...

how do you pronounce Grob? by [email protected]
I hear most people pronounce Grob with a B on the end. But I dont think it is actually a B but rather an esset which is a letter in german that looks like a B but is pronounced as a hard S. So Grob should really be pronouced Gross.

Skin repairs on a Schroeder type trailer by Brad[_2_]
I've got a trailer that was damaged a few years back when a load of snow slid off the roof and landed right on the skin. About 5 of the fiberglass ribs are broken and the skin is fractured, split and generally ripped apart in a few areas. Has anyone got some idea about how to repair the broken...

sharing a GPS NMEA feed by Brad[_2_]
I would like to use a GPS antenna that I could send NMEA data to both my Glide Computer and my PDA running flight sortware. Any thoughts on how something like that would be wired up? I have a Gilsson antenna with a brass plug that fits into my iPAQ 310, if that same unit would work, I would get...
