Standard Airworthy Certificated Gliders in the US by GM
Can anyone give me some pointers on how to research the FAA database to find out if a glider has a standard airworthiness certificate or must be registered in the experimental category? Thanks, Uli

trailer painting by mike davis
It is time to repaint my aluminum cobra trailer. I'm not planning to spray it myself but does anyone have any thoughts on using an auto body shop to do the work? Could I do some of the prep myself? Any idea about the cost? Thanks

Recertify/Reweb Seat Belts/Shoulder Harness by JimF
Hi, To my untrained eyes my original LS 4 belts look to be in excellent condition. However, they are way past their expiration date. What do you guys usually do? Replace or Reweb, and if reweb where do you send them? Or just keep them as long as they look good? Thanks.

Reading SGS 2-32 Polar Curve by runner4065
I'm struggling how to read the polar curve for an SGS 2-32. It can be found on page 19 of the flight manual found he http://www.airsailing.org/downloads/2-32%20Flight%20Manual.pdf What are the two different groups of lines? I'm only familiar with one (the top set). Any significant in a band...

Butterfly vario by Steve Parker
Hi, I really like the look of the Butterfly vario, it ticks most of my requirement boxes. Where do most people fit their sensor box given the requirement to be 100mm from data wires and metal, 150mm away from avionics, 300mm away from 2 amp cables and 500mm from a speaker? I realise gliders have...

Pegasus becomes Lazarus! (or "I'm not dead yet!") by Mark628CA
I am holding in my hot little hand a letter from Jacqueline Jambor, a Manager with the FAA's Project Support Branch, ACE-112. It states that the FAA has accepted the request submitted by my friend and hangar partner, airshow pilot Bob Carlton, for a Global Alternate Method Of Compliance (AMOC) that...

Tail Wheels & Tail Booms snapp'n by POPS
I was warned about the possibility of a glassed on tail wheel possibly being the deciding factor in your tail boon snapping off in a extreme ground loop incident, whereas a skid or wheel that is intended to tear off could be the deciding factor in just the opposite happening. I've left my...

More on Delorme InReach Satellite Tracker by Frank Paynter[_2_]
The Delorme InReach Satellite Tracker is now available for pre-order on their website. Unfortunately, they apparently decided that the minimum update interval would be 10 minutes, the same as the SPOT tracker many of us use now. It is also MUCH more expensive for initial purchase, and (I think)...

First Solo by vic20owner
Well, It's been about 1 year asked about where to learn to fly gliders in Central FL on this newsgroup. Several of you directed me to Seminole Lake Gliderport, and my mom purchased an intro flight for me for my 37th birthday 6/21/2008. I did my 1st flight (my intro) on Dec 12 2008, and today,...

Relief Tube Housing - Unsafe by Tim Taylor
I pulled the seat pan in my Ventus 2 for the first time to find the relief tube housing to be a 10 inch long sharp ended aluminum tube epoxied to the bottom of the fuselage. Needless to say if you have one of these in your glider I encourage you to get rid of it ASAP. I would hate to see what...

UK Air Accidents by Graham Drinkell
Recent Air Accidents/Incidents appear to have been very poorly reported by the press. Especially when light aircraft are involved. They are extremely unknowledgable, wether a paraglider (or other a/c) / RAF training a/c is involved?

Blanik Sport Canopy by sisu1a
I'm sure it's been posted here before, but I just found this video of a Blanik participating in a skydiving stunt and it made me wonder about flying Blaniks with the 'sport canopy' mod as in this video. Anyone know the specific performance penalties or of any aerodynamic quirks from this...
