Cobra Trailer Jam-nuts (loose) by
[email protected]
Don't know why, but the last 3 Cobra trailers I have seen all had very loose wing spar jam nuts. When a wing is rolled in, it's spar passes under a horizontal cross bar and when the tip is lowered into the floor saddle, the spar rises slightly to firmly come to rest under the horizontal cross...

Rear view camera on tow plane by
[email protected]
Anyone using a rear view camera in their tow plane? I know this has been covered before, but there has been a lot of changes in the technology. Our club is just finishing rebuilding our Pawnee. Instead of mounting mirror(s) we're considering using a temp installed camera with the monitor velcro'd...

Low energy (full stall) landings: are they safe? by
Chris Snyder
Please forgive me for replying to a long-dead thread, but there is a lot of good information in this conversation and I'm looking to improve my landings in my new-to-me DG-200.
I'm only on my 4th flight, but the last two landings have had very noticible bounces as I attempted to do a wheel...

Car/Truck to pull glider trailer by
[email protected]
Hi All,
I am new to this group and last fall added a glider rating to my ASEL certificate.
I am planning to replace my car this summer and in anticipation of purchasing a glider someday, I would like to purchase a vehicle that would do a good job towing a glider. I also want it to get the best...

Glider Cockpit Safety by
Kevin Christner
I think anyone who has read the "too many deaths" thread has been sobered. When we take to the air, we are accepting a far greater degree of risk than the vast majority every will. We do it because of the personal satisfaction we receive, which makes our lives brighter as a whole.
But I also...

Tow Pilot Medical by
John Huthmaker
It looks like a tow pilot can fly under a private pilots license. There are several stipulations, including needing to have 100 hours PIC in the same category aircraft, etc, etc.
Does anyone know about the medical requirements? I currently am using BasicMED, and have no current plans to get any...

Flying Gliders in Europe: Medical Requirements by
[email protected]
I'm trying to put together a trip to the LAK factory in Lithuania to test fly the new MiniLAK FES, a 16.5 meter self launch that I may decide to purchase.
The folks at LAK are onboard, but the civil aviation authority in Lithuania is raising bureaucratic barriers to my flying there. They've...

Does anyone know the specifics of what kind of regulator is used with the Older MH EDS systems? I’ve been given an older EDS unit but will have to buy a separate oxygen bottle and regulator.

Too many accidents by
[email protected]
I have been soaring since the late 70's and can recall many accidents in the past. It seems, however, that recently the accident rate has spiked. While I don't have exact data to confirm this (I'm sure our friends at the SSF have it), it seems that we are experiencing higher than average...

Tom BravoMike
In his latest 'Eglider Newsletter' (Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018), Tom Knauff mentions an article about the Ridge Soaring Gliderport in the local (State College) 'Town & Gown" magazine. A quick search gives this link to the article...

3-D map issues with SeeYou 9.2 by
Dan[_6_]
recently my 3-D map view feature stopped working on SeeYou 9.2. It had been working great but now is hung up and all I see is a brown screen.
I've contacted the SeeYou help desk, they suggested to update my graphics card drivers, did that and still nothing. I'm waiting for further instructions...
