Oudie/Flarm alarm from my own ADS-B/Transponder by
Richard Livingston[_2_]
I recently installed a Trig TT22 transponder in our LS6. Today I got to fly it for the first time and I was getting constant conflict alarms on my Oudie about traffic at (for e.g.) my "6 O'Clock and 35ft above me" The only way I could figure out how to silence these alarms was to set my...

Soaring Schools by
John Foster
Is there a general consensus on which schools are regarded as the "best" for glider training? I realize this is difficult to compare, as there are lots of good instructors all over the place, but if someone were interested in taking a block of time off and going somewhere to learn how to fly...

iPad 4? by
Duster
Apple is rumored to have a smaller, 7" iPad in the works to compete
with the Kindle Fire which would make it more accomodating in the
cockpit for a nav aid than the 11" version. (There may also be a touch-
screen in development with realistic tactile feel from a company in
Sweden). Anyone have an...

S80 issues by
[email protected]
so I made the ultimate dumb move - I updated a working IT device right before I went to a contest. It has not worked since.........
To be fair - I did not update the firmware correct off the bat (should have ready the Manuel better)
Now - on the ground it looks like it will work fine - as soon...

"Soaring, Beyond The Basics" By Dale Masters by
Jim Hultman
A winter reading suggestion:
I've just finished "Soaring, Beyond The Basics" by Dale Masters &
enthusiastically recommend it. It's all about developing airmanship,
sensitivity to the terrain & interpreting clues to lift. Dale's dry humor &
clear writing style make this book an enjoyable page turner...

SPOT tracking for 2009 contests? by
Frank[_1_]
Our club (CCSC) is starting to think about providing real-time SPOT-
based glider track displays for ground crew/spectators for our 2009
Region 6 contest, and I was wondering if other clubs were considering
similar programs.
Sure would be a cool thing if the SSA and/or SRA were to provide a...

Boots for cold weather Soaring by
Dave Nadler
Hi All - After my Soaring report Tuesday (frozen toes), I got a
recommendation for "Sorel Bear" boots. These look like they
might be stiff in the ankle making rudder operation annoying
(a problem with my current poorly-insulated...

Minimum number of flights for winch sign off? by
Waveguru
What would be the consensus for the minimum number of flights to get a ground launch sign off for an experienced glider pilot? How many cable breaks and at what altitude? Of course it would take more for some and less for others, but I would think at least 15 launches with 5 cable breaks at various...

Fatal accident near Wenatchee, WA by
[email protected]
Surprisingly no one has posted this before now. There is a high plateau
just north of the airport. A basalt cliff drops several hundred feet to
the valley (and airport) below. Most soaring is done on the plateau.
There is a temptation to try to squirt over the rim if you get low,
even though there...

Cobra trailer lift struts for clamshell top by
[email protected]
I have a 2002 glasstop cobra and I have a lift strut (nitrogen
spring?) that just failed on me.
It is very difficult to lift the clamshell with even just one failed
strut.
Is there anyone in the US that might have these in stock?
If anyone has replaced theirs with a US made strut I would also...
